Clyde & Co and Castor Vali co-hosted IPFA’s Managing Risk and Opportunity in East Africa – event in Dar es Salaam.

The session brought together stakeholders from across the investment, legal, infrastructure, mining and insurance sectors. The discussion focused on the critical requirements, enablers and vulnerabilities associated with the infrastructure needed to unlock opportunities and create value across East Africa and the broader region throughout the investment lifecycle.

Our Group Head of Corporate Risk, Robert (Hutch) Hutchinson, joined the discussion, sharing perspectives from Castor Vali’s work supporting organisations operating and investing across the region.

Kenya’s Ministry of Health has confirmed the country’s first imported case of Bundibugyo Ebola virus disease.

The case involved a Kenyan citizen who had been living in the Democratic Republic of Congo and had reportedly received treatment there before travelling through Uganda to Kenya.

Authorities have begun contact tracing, including family members and healthcare workers. Surveillance and infection-prevention measures are also expected to be strengthened at healthcare facilities and points of entry.
