Whilst amusing, it also highlights an important point: asking for everything will make it harder to attract capable candidates.

Separating the 'essential' from the 'nice to have' is likely to lead to a stronger shortlist and a better hire.

The latest Construction Workforce Outlook from CITB estimates the UK construction industry will need an average of 41,200 extra workers every year between now and 2030.

Whilst the industry is expected to return to growth from 2027, the challenge will be having enough skilled people available to deliver that work.

It's a reminder that recruitment isn't just about filling today's vacancies. It's about planning ahead for tomorrow's opportunities.

Businesses that invest in their workforce now are likely to be in a much stronger position when demand increases.
