🌈 Pride Month: Creating Safe and Supportive Spaces

This Pride Month, we’re reflecting on how we can all contribute to a more inclusive environment.

Recent research found that 37% of LGBTQ+ individuals have experienced discrimination through behaviour, attitudes, or language (YouGov, 2026) highlighting the importance of our everyday actions.

📢 We’re inviting our colleagues and service users to reflect & share:
What makes our communities feel safe and supportive for everyone?

By listening, learning, and supporting one another, we can continue to build a workplace where everyone feels respected, valued, and free to be their authentic self 💜

⚠️ Heat Health Alert Ongoing – Please Stay Safe ☀️

The UKHSA amber heat-health alert is still ongoing, ending tomorrow, Wednesday 27 May, as rising temperatures continue to pose increased risks to vulnerable people, especially older adults and those with existing health conditions.

For our incredible community care teams and the people you support:
✅ Keep homes cool (close curtains/blinds)
✅ Encourage regular hydration
✅ Avoid peak heat where possible (11am–3pm)
✅ Check in frequently with vulnerable individuals
✅ Be alert to signs of heat exhaustion

💜 A huge thank you to all our teams who worked tirelessly throughout the long weekend in challenging conditions.

🌟As we reach the end of this heatwave, let’s continue to look out for one another and ensure everyone stays safe.

Did you know that more of us need to take part in dementia research?

🗓️ It can take up to 3 years to recruit enough volunteers for a dementia treatment trial.

In comparison, some cancer trials are completed in just 2.3 years.

Even more striking, only 1% of people who could take part in dementia research studies actually do.

📈 By getting involved, we can help shape the future of dementia diagnosis, prevention, and treatment and make a real difference for future generations.

The Join Dementia Research service makes it easy for people with or without dementia, as well as carers, to take part in vital studies.

✨ Every volunteer brings us one step closer to better understanding and care.

To find out more or sign up, visit the Join Dementia Research website or call 0300 111 5111

Did you know dementia doesn’t just affect older people?

🧠 When symptoms develop in someone under the age of 65, it’s known as young onset dementia and there are over 70,000 people in the UK living with it.

Because many people associate dementia with later life, younger individuals can often go undiagnosed or feel misunderstood. But the impact is just as real, for individuals and their families.

In some cases, young onset dementia can be linked to inherited genes, though this is rare. Most cases are caused by a combination of different risk factors.

At All Care, we recognise that dementia can affect people at different stages of life and we’re here to provide understanding, tailored support every step of the way.

✨ Awareness helps build better support, earlier understanding, and stronger communities.

During Dementia Week, it’s important to understand what dementia really is.

The word “dementia” isn’t a single disease.

📝 It’s a term used to describe a group of symptoms, such as memory loss, confusion, and changes in behaviour, that gradually worsen over time.

🧠 Dementia is caused by different diseases that damage the brain.

The most common is Alzheimer’s disease, but others include vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies, and frontotemporal dementia.

💭🌡️ A helpful way to think of it: Dementia is the symptom, just like a fever. The disease causing it is the underlying condition.

At All Care, we support individuals and families living with dementia every day with patience, understanding, and truly person-centred care.

🌟🧠 Let’s keep raising awareness, supporting one another, and building more dementia-friendly communities.
