The lean-to building has had a full new limecrete and sandstone floor with under floor heating, a sympatheticly restored and insulated roof with reclaimed slates and lots of brickwork with lime mortar.

I can highly recommend Clems Plant Hire. Liam and the boys are extremely hard working, punctual and communicative.
I started using Clems for both personal jobs in the garden at home and with my work earlier this year, I will definitely continue to use Clems going forward.

Working the weekend isn't so bad when you get to play with renewables 😁
We've finally got our hands on the 1.6kw solar kit that was ordered in July, adding another string to the sustainability bow of The Dairy Cottage project.
The Dairy Cottage is our most eco friendly renovation project, so far! Along with the solar, we also installed an air source heat pump, a rain harvesting system for flushing toilets and garden irrigation (no hose pipe ban here 👌🏼) and recently fitted a bioethanol fire place which is environmentally friendly and also super efficient 🙌🏼
We'd love to encourage more historic buildings to become eco-friendly, so give us a shout if you think we can help 👍🏼

Some progress pics for you guys from our current job, White Cottage.
When we took on the job we always knew the NW elevation would be a bit of a fun one, having been rendered in hard 70/80's sand and cement 🤢
After stripping it off we found that the bottom of the frame had suffered significantly. So we went about partitioning off the inside for security and comfort for the clients and got to work replacing the sill plate, 2 posts, 2 windows and repairing the corner post and tie beam. The 'was once porch now nook' also needed posts and rails replacing and new infill panels built with handmade bricks and lime. The infill panels were super hard brick and cement and many of the timbers were beyond salvation.
Very pleased how it's come together and now just awaiting some lovely lime render.
Last pic you can see Chris removing the plastic paint from the NE elevation. We have a few frame repairs to do there too with lots of lime pointing and lastly a lime wash or breathable paint finish to go on. 👌🏼💪🏼

⚒️ Woodwork has now been completed on the double balustrade restoration! It sure was a challenging start with some big hidden problems and unfriendly weather, however, it has been very satisfying restoring these absolute units back to their former glory. We've now handed over to the decorators for some linseed oil paint lovin' and Chico will finish off the lead capping shortly after.
Big shout to and for all their hard work. for making the spindles and mouldings. Chico and Ish for the leadwork.

Here are some progress shots for you guys 🙂
It's been a bit of a challenge, not helped by the unsettled weather, however we are now getting somewhere! And once we finally do get there, we get to do it all over again on the left ballustrade 😂
Shout out to for knocking out the little spindles, and the boys and for the graftmanship and Chico for the lead work 👊🏼
Let's hope for some more good weather over the next few weeks!

Here she is then 😬 the fruits of 3months worth of hard work. 405sqm roof stripped, repaired, insulated, a monster lead valley, recovered with handmade tiles and added 26 in-roof solar PV's. We also repaired the weatherboarding on the gables and replaced the crappy plastic guttering for some lovely cast aluminium stuff. So yeah, quite pleased with it really 😅
Shout-out to all usual boys from with the hard graft and our fantastic subbies and suppliers also. 👊🏼

I've also got round to making and fitting this European oak sliding door to the Dairy Cottage. The design is based on the other doors already fitted, just significantly bigger and heavier 😅
Really pleased with the Buller hardware, a bit pricey but very good quality and quiet. I was even able to add soft close features either end of the rail.
