🔋🗑 Waste Wednesday Fact 🗑👩‍🚒

Electrical waste isn’t just an environmental issue - it’s also a major fire risk. 🔥Lithium-ion batteries, commonly found in items like vapes, phones, laptops, and power tools, are now one of the leading causes of fires in waste collection and recycling facilities in the UK.

Even a single damaged or improperly disposed battery can ignite when crushed or compacted in waste vehicles or plant machinery.

These fires are extremely difficult to control and can cause significant damage, put staff at risk, and shut down recycling operations. 🚫

That’s why it’s so important that all electrical items and batteries are kept out of general waste and taken to the correct recycling points. When bringing your waste to places such as ourselves, please make sure all batteries are properly segregated and separated from general waste streams so they can be handled safely and disposed of correctly.

A small item in the wrong bin can cause a very big problem 🔋🔥
