Join us for a session exploring how artists can expand their individual practices through collaboration, storytelling and community engagement.

Maker Anna Pope will be joined by Sarah Trevillion from Storylines CIC to share their collaborative approach to place-based making, community workshops and a creative installation inspired by stories, archives and the threatened traditional craft and heritage of crab and lobster traps, known as withy pots. Together, Anna and Sarah will lead a story-sharing and weaving activity, giving you the chance to make, listen and reflect.

This is one of two related sessions (the first of which is on Tuesday 9th June). Each workshop is different, and you’re welcome to come to either one or both.

📍 Museum of Cornish Life, Helston
📍 Monday 29th June, 1pm-4pm
📍 Free for Creative Kernow Associates members / £5 for non-members
📍 Limited to 12 spaces

On Monday 15th June, we’ll be joined by income generation expert Elinor Eaton for an informal workshop exploring practical, sustainable ways to support your creative practice.

Elinor will explore how artists, makers, creative freelancers and small organisations can think about income generation in ways that feel aligned with their values and ambitions.

The session will look at how to build a clear case for support, communicate your value, develop meaningful relationships and think beyond one-off asks, bid writing or funding applications alone. There will be practical insights, honest reflection and time to workshop ideas together.

📍 W14, Krowji, West Park, Redruth
📍 Monday 15th June, 10am-12pm
📍 Free for Creative Kernow Associates members / £5 for non-members
📍 Limited to 20 spaces

Join us for a session exploring how artists can expand their individual practices through research, heritage craft, collaboration and community engagement.

Maker Anna Pope will share how her practice has grown from being a jeweller towards community-based projects focused on the threatened traditional craft and heritage of crab and lobster traps, known as withy pots. Alongside the talk, Anna will lead a weaving activity, giving you the chance to make while you listen.

This is one of two related sessions (the second of which is on Monday 29th June). Each workshop is different, and you’re welcome to come to either one or both.

Join us on Saturday 9th May at Gwennap Pit for an in conversation event between artist Simon Bayliss, cultural and social historian Dr Peder Clark and filmmaker Senara Wilson.

Bayliss will reflect on his response to Clark’s research into Ecstasy (M**A), developed for his current exhibition It’s Just a Feeling at Auction House which explores the unlikely convergence of Ecstasy and studio pottery, and which was developed through CKA's second residency at Cove Park. Clark will speak about his research and writing on 1990s Ecstasy consumption, spanning rave scenes and alternative communities.

The conversation will take place at Gwennap Pit, a historic site of mass Methodist gatherings, and the location of a well-known clip featuring Aphex Twin and Luke Vibert from Sounds of the Suburbs with John Peel, filmed by Wilson.

Tickets are free but donations towards Gwennap Pit are encouraged.

🌱 Join ESI artist in residence Rachel Lambert at the opening of her exhibition 'Welcoming Mat (Mat Welcoming)' this Thursday, 4pm-5pm! 🌱

Inspired by the sign at the entrance to the Falmouth and Exeter’s University entrance, Rachel’s exhibition explores questions of diversity and community, asking; what is natural and how can and do we connect? Through, quite literally, weaving together histories, of both plants and people, she celebrates a changing topography. Bringing together staff, students and local people to gather abundant plants here on campus, processing and creating with them in a reciprocal relationship. By repeating patterns and combining materials, she has crafted a sensory environment that invites the audience to interact through touch and smell, helping bring attention to what’s under our feet, under our noses and in front of our eyes.

🌿 Opening event: Thursday 30th April, 4pm-5pm (booking required - link in bio)
🌿 Exhibition open throughout May (no booking required)
🌿 ESI Creative Studio, Penryn Campus

Rachel has been artist in residence at the ESI throughout April 2026. The residency is a partnership between Arts and Culture, University of Exeter and Creative Kernow Associates (CKA).
