Day one of Holistic Her. 🤍

And honestly, I’m feeling so grateful.

Grateful for every woman who showed up today. For the conversations, the honesty, the laughter, the vulnerability, the ideas, the support and the sheer brilliance in the room.

But more than anything, I’m grateful for what this community allows me to do.

Holistic Her isn’t just an event I put on. This community genuinely sustains me. It fills my cup. It supports my mental health. It gives me space to be ambitious, creative and completely myself — while also allowing me to mother, to care, and to be present for the people who need me.

And today was perhaps the most literal example of that.

I’ve been running an event while looking after a poorly, very clingy baby who absolutely was not supposed to be at Holistic Her… alongside three overexcited children who hadn’t seen me for their normal two hours after school 😂 Cue hysteria.

But somehow, we made it work.

Because that’s what happens when you have an amazing network around you. People who step in. People who understand. People who hold things when you can’t. People who don’t expect perfection, but simply show up and help you make it happen.

That is the real magic of this community.

It isn’t about having it all figured out.

It’s about having people around you while you figure it out.

So tonight I’m tired, very full-hearted, and feeling incredibly lucky.

Thank you to every single person who made today what it was.

And tomorrow?

Tomorrow is going to be AMAZING.

I genuinely cannot wait. ✨

Opening the event with the wonderful Dr Johanneke Kodde- Holistic Medical Doctor and GP

There are some conversations that stay with you.
Today’s session was one of those.

We talked about the body. About the mind. About the signals we so often ignore because we’re busy getting on with everything else.

About what happens when we lose touch with ourselves — and how difficult it can be to hear our own needs when we’re constantly responding to everyone else’s.

We explored self-awareness, intuition and self-trust. The relationship between stress, burnout and our wellbeing. And perhaps most importantly, the possibility that our bodies aren’t working against us at all.

They’re communicating with us.

Sometimes the answer isn’t to push harder, optimise more or become a better version of ourselves.

Sometimes it’s to pause.

To listen.

To get curious about what we actually need.

To trust ourselves enough to make different choices.

That was the heart of today’s session, and I loved the space we created to explore it together.

There was honesty. There was vulnerability. There were some really powerful reflections.

And there was that particular kind of Holistic Her magic — women coming together, putting down the armour for a while, and remembering that we don’t have to figure everything out alone.

A huge thank you to Dr Johanneke Kodde for such a thoughtful, grounded and genuinely insightful session.

Success doesn’t always come from doing more.

Sometimes it comes from listening more closely to ourselves.

And that feels like a pretty good place to start. 🤍

Well… that happened. 🎙️

I’ve just been on BBC Radio Cornwall talking about the podcast and Holistic Her— why I started it, the conversations I wanted to create, and what I hope people take from listening.

It’s a little bit surreal hearing yourself talking about something that started as an idea in my head and is now actually out there in the world.

And yes, I was slightly nervous. 😂 But mostly I was just really bloody proud.

If you missed it live, you can listen back on BBC Sounds.

And if you haven’t listened to the podcast yet… this is your sign. 🎧

Thank you BBC Radio Cornwall for having me. ❤️

The last weekend of the summer holidays. 🥹

We’ve made a little tradition of going away for this weekend, and this year we spent it in the most gorgeous wooden cabin in Ilfracombe.

We were the only people on the entire site, apart from all the glorious swallows. No phones. A few pictures. Solar-powered lights that gradually got dimmer until they essentially told us it was time for bed by simply… running out. 😂

It was exactly the little pause we all needed.

Apart from the baby developing a temperature of 102.6 and being rather poorly today. 😭 So we’re home now, tucked up, and getting ready for a roast before an early night for everyone.

And then… back to school tomooooorrow.

Back to swimming. Back to routines. A BBC interview in the evening for me. And then two days of Holistic Her.

It feels like everything is about to speed up again.

So today I think we’ll just pause.

One last slow Sunday. One roast. One poorly baby getting lots of cuddles. And absolutely no rushing into whatever comes next. ❤️

Create the environment 🌿

The first sign of burnout isn’t always crying at your desk.

Sometimes it’s getting sick the moment you go on holiday.

Or waking up tired, even after a full night’s sleep.

Or noticing that your body has been quietly asking for your attention for a while.

In Episode 3 of The Holistic Her Podcast, Dr Johanneke Kodde, Body Mind Soul Doctor, shares a reminder I think so many of us need:

Our bodies communicate with us.

Pain, fatigue, migraines and other changes can be signals that something needs our attention. Not something to fear. Not something to obsess over.

Just something to notice.

So perhaps the question isn't “How do I push through this?”

Maybe it’s:

🌿 Am I constantly operating in stress mode?
🌿 Have I actually allowed myself to recover?
🌿 What might my body be trying to tell me?

There’s a middle ground between ignoring every signal and worrying about every symptom.

Notice. Pause. Listen. Be kind to yourself.

Maybe the reset starts there.

What is your body trying to tell you? 🌿

So many capable women are brilliant at keeping going.

We notice the tiredness.
The tension.
The poor sleep.
The feeling that something just isn’t quite right.

And then we carry on.

Until the whisper becomes a shout.

In Episode 3 of The Holistic Her Podcast, Dr Johanneke Kodde, Body Mind Soul Doctor, joins us to talk about the signals our bodies give us and why learning to listen to them can be such an important part of protecting our wellbeing.

Because self-care isn’t always another thing to add to the list.

Sometimes it’s stopping long enough to notice what’s already happening.

It’s not about doing more.
It’s about listening more closely.

And perhaps learning to trust yourself again.

Johanneke will also be joining us at Holistic Her in just TWO WEEKS, so you can continue the conversation with her in person at Scorrier House.

Anyone else got that back-to-school feeling going on? 👀

We’re in our final week of the holidays and, somehow, things feel… calmer.

Uniforms are ready (unless someone has already unpacked them from their drawers and painted all over them, obviously 🙃).

Work feels organised. Calls are moving. I’ve got some good childcare this week. Hazel is being an absolute angel.

And I’m currently sitting for a moment in my tidy-ish living room (we are only ever ish here — do NOT venture into the rest of the house) with a ceremonial cacao, courtesy of the wonderful Ali from Al Ki Myst, who, as usual, will be closing Holistic Her next Wednesday. 🤎

And actually, I feel really good.

I’ve worked SO hard on this event over the last year.

Are ticket sales where I want them to be? No.

Would I love a few more women in the room? Absolutely.

But I also know, hand on heart, that this event is going to be one of the best I have ever delivered.

The sauna + swim add-ons are going to be magical. I cannot WAIT for those.

The final logistics are being sorted. The tiny details are being ticked off.

Will the printed agendas arrive in time?

Who knows. 😂

But for the first time in a while, I feel calm.

I feel connected.

And I feel incredibly supported.

Because this is what I’ve learned again and again: it takes a village.

And this mama, this business owner, this slightly chaotic human… feels very, very held by the amazing community of women we are building together.

Next Wednesday, we gather. 🤎

And I genuinely cannot wait.

Rest is productive. Yes, really. 🌿

For the women building businesses, leading teams, raising families and generally trying to keep all the plates in the air, this is your reminder:

Rest is not a reward for finishing everything.

In Episode 3 of The Holistic Her Podcast, we’re joined by Dr Johanneke Kodde, Body Mind Soul Doctor, to talk about why slowing down isn’t lazy, unproductive or something we earn once everything else is done.

It’s part of how we stay clear, creative, connected and sustainable.

Because if your business depends on you constantly running on empty, something probably needs to change.

Sometimes the most powerful business move you can make is to stop.

Take the breath.
Have the rest.
Let your brain catch up with you.

And then see what becomes possible from there. 💛

When was the last time you rested without feeling guilty about it?

What if accepting that you can’t do everything is actually the key to doing what matters?

We’re constantly being told to optimise.

Do more.
Get organised.
Wake up earlier.
Fit more into the day.

But what if the problem isn’t that you’re not productive enough?

What if there is simply too much to do and not enough time to do it all?

In episode four of the Holistic Her Podcast, therapist and breathwork practitioner Hayley Hildred, founder of Studio Klys, and I talk about burnout, sustainable success and the freedom that can come from accepting our limits.

Hayley shares some of the ideas that stayed with her from "Four Thousand Weeks" by Oliver Burkeman, particularly the uncomfortable but liberating idea that we are never going to get everything done.

And perhaps that's not a failure.

Perhaps accepting our finite time forces us to get much clearer about what actually matters.

Because when you stop trying to do 'everything, you finally have to ask:

What do I actually want to spend my life doing?

And if this one makes you want to throw your to-do list into the sea, honestly... I get it. 😂🌊
