The Fixery will be open on Saturday (11 am to 3 pm at The Bircham Centre, Reepham) and we look forward to seeing you with any portable items that need repair: clothes, bags, jewellery, ceramics, electricals, electronics and small furniture items. There’s no charge for our work.

We won’t be doing bikes this time, unfortunately.

When plugging mains adaptors into electrical items, please check you have the right voltage! The common little cylindrical connectors all look the same, but the wrong voltage can fry sensitive electronics.

We’re fairly sure that’s what happened to a nice Roberts radio donated recently to the Bircham Centre charity shop. It was an intricate three-stage repair – pictured here is the main audio amplifier chip – but it’s fixed now and ready to go on sale.

Big number day coming up! Bring something broken in to The Fixery on Saturday (9 May, 11 am to 3 pm in The Bircham Centre, Reepham) and join the celebrations as we repair our 1000th item since we opened in February 2024.

Since then we’ve had a brilliant time repairing clothes, bags, jewellery, toys, bikes, tools, electricals and electronics. We’ll have a go at almost anything, and we successfully fix around four out of five items we see.

Come at 11 for the best chance of a fix on the day, and remember that you’ll need to pick up your items before we close at 3 pm.

Fixer and artist Ulrike has made this fine piece to celebrate our milestone, showing the types of items we’ve seen along the way. We look forward to seeing you – and perhaps you'll be the magic number!

This lovely vintage table lamp arrived a couple of months ago in several pieces. It’s been a challenging repair, but we’re nearly there and look forward to returning it to its owner.

Bring your broken household stuff to The Fixery on Saturday 28 March, 11 am to 3 pm at The Bircham Centre, Reepham for free repairs to jewellery, clothes, bags, ceramics, small wooden items, electricals and electronics. Turn up early if you can, and remember you'll need to take your item home by the end of the session. We've just given this lovely hand-made brass clock a clean and a new quartz movement. Also in the workshop are an heirloom wooden box, a 500-watt DJ amplifier that went bang, a portable typewriter, and a vintage brass lamp that needs to meet modern safety standards.

We’ve seen a number of vintage stuffed toys recently but we also fix broken ceramics, electricals and electronics, bikes, walkers and shopping trolleys, clothes and bags, small furniture items and lots more. If in doubt, bring it in or send us a photo.

Please remember that because we don’t have storage space, you’ll need to collect your item before 3 pm, fixed or not.

Bring your broken or tatty items in to The Fixery on Saturday (14 February, 11 am to 3 pm in , Reepham) for free repairs, safety checks and advice. We’re not officially the Re-bear Shop but we do see a fair number of venerable teddies – alongside broken jewellery, electronic gadgets, ceramic items, clothes, bags and kitchen appliances.

The team will slightly short-handed this time, and we’re going to be firmer about not opening the door till 11.00. I know we ask you to come early, and that’s still the best idea, but we do need time to get our tools in a row. We’ll also be reminding you to pick up your items before we close, since we don’t have storage space at the Bircham Centre.

It was lovely to introduce ourselves to some new faces at Aylsham Town Hall a couple of weeks ago, so we hope to see a few fixes from further afield.

On Saturday 10 January The Fixery will be open for free repairs to electrical items, jewellery, clothes and bags, bikes, ceramics and other small household items. Find us in from 11 am to 3 pm on the second and fourth Saturday of each month.

Happy new year from our team of skilled volunteers! But if 2025 wasn’t too bad for you, we respectfully suggest patching up the old year and keeping it in service a while longer. Re-use, repair and recycle…

Now here’s a cute piece of German design that could make a nice gift for a globetrotter with a vintage vibe. This EMES Sonochron travel alarm clock probably dates to the 1970s or 1980s. The Fixery wasn’t able to fix it – that needs the skills of a traditional watchmaker – but you can find them in working order on Etsy and eBay.

What we didn’t know until we researched this one is that the Sonochron has a sinister association. The 1980s radical feminist group Rote Zora favoured this model as a time switch for bombs, to the extent that the German police marked hundreds of them with secret code numbers before releasing them to shops. This one, unfortunately, doesn’t carry a code.

Have a peaceful holiday season, everyone, and we hope to see you at our next session on 10 January (11 am to 3 pm , Reepham).

The Fixery volunteers had a lot of fun making Christmas decorations earlier this month – and on Saturday it’s once more time for us to fix your stuff (13 December, 11 am to 3 pm in the Bircham Centre, Reepham). Bring us clothes, bags, ornaments, electrical items and anything else that needs a bit of TLC, and we’ll do our best to fix them for free. It’ll be a small team this time, but we’ll aim to provide the usual great service.
