The Fixery will be open tomorrow (Saturday 10 October, 11 am to 3 pm in the Bircham Centre, Reepham) for free repairs to clothes, bags, jewellery, lamps, other electrical items, electronic gadgets, ornaments and whatever else you can carry. Come at 11 am if you can and be prepared to collect your item by 3 pm, fixed or not.

Ready for collection this time are this vintage (well, 2005) LED sign, a proper vintage fishing bag and a Makita boombox.

On Saturday (26 September, 11 am to 3 pm) The Fixery will be open in The Bircham Centre, Reepham for free repairs to all your small household stuff. We’re promised an electric mower and some shears to sharpen, and no doubt there’ll be the usual mixture of jewellery, clothes, bags, bikes, ceramics, lamps and electronic items.

Shown here is a portable electric fence energiser we’ve built into a sandwich box for the wonderful Field of Joy. For this interesting project we’ve replaced a microcontroller and messed around with firmware. No comments on our skills with silicone sealant, please!

It’s true! Our stitching experts Cathy, Pat and Ulrike are taking a well-earned break this time around, and so too is jewellery and book repair specialist Barbara.

The rest of us will be doing electrical and other repairs as usual, and bike man Chris will be there. So if you have something you’d like fixed for free, or just need a bit of advice, come along to The Bircham Centre, Reepham at 11 am on Saturday and we’ll do our best to help. We’re open till 3 pm and since we have no storage space we’ll ask you to take your items home with you before then, fixed or not.

The full team will be back on 26 September. In the meantime, let us know if you need recommendations for local sewing services.

Bring out your old garden tools! On Saturday 29 August The Fixery is proud to be helping out at RALGA’s Fun Day (10am to 1 pm at the Bircham Centre, Reepham). We’ll be sharpening shears and secateurs, checking batteries and chargers for portable tools, and other small jobs – pictured here is a new grip we made from Reepham laurel for a spade that’s almost a century old.

The day will also feature loads of other garden-related activities including a plant advice clinic, book stall, quiz, guess the weight of the pumpkin, snail racing, music and refreshments. It’s a grand morning out, and we hope to see you there.

The Fixery will be open on Saturday (22 August, 11 am to 3 pm in The Bircham Centre, Reepham) for free repairs to clothes, bags, jewellery, books, toys, small electricals, electronic gadgets and anything else you think we might tackle. Come early if you can and be ready to pick up your item before 3 pm.

This time we’re expecting an electric scooter, and a robot vacuum cleaner from last session will be showing off its skills if we can get that fixed in time.

Lissen ’ear: The Fixery will be open on Saturday (8 August, 11 am to 3 pm in The Bircham Centre, Reepham) for free repairs to ceramic cats, clothes, bags, jewellery, books, toys, small electricals and electronic gadgets.

Pictured here in its “before”, “during” and “after” stages is a fine feline destined for the Bircham Centre charity shop whose busted lughole was skilfully rebuilt by fixer Ulrike.

Late in the day I know, but The Fixery is open tomorrow (Saturday 25 July, 11 am to 3 pm at , Reepham) for free repairs to clothes, bags, jewellery, ceramics, electricals and electronics. Come early to avoid disappointment. Mr Fixery here was created by our lovely volunteer Barbara.

And if you’ve nothing better to do today, take the spray arms out of your dishwasher and clear out any blocked holes. You’ll have cleaner dishes and probably save water too.

The Fixery will be open on Saturday (11 am to 3 pm at The Bircham Centre, Reepham) and we look forward to seeing you with any portable items that need repair: clothes, bags, jewellery, ceramics, electricals, electronics and small furniture items. There’s no charge for our work.

We won’t be doing bikes this time, unfortunately.

When plugging mains adaptors into electrical items, please check you have the right voltage! The common little cylindrical connectors all look the same, but the wrong voltage can fry sensitive electronics.

We’re fairly sure that’s what happened to a nice Roberts radio donated recently to the Bircham Centre charity shop. It was an intricate three-stage repair – pictured here is the main audio amplifier chip – but it’s fixed now and ready to go on sale.
