We’re hiring! 📣

We’re looking for a new Marketing Assistant to join us as an apprentice.

We’re office-based in central Reigate, and between us we have many years of marketing experience. One of the things we really like about apprenticeships is that you learn while actually doing the job, with the opportunity to work towards a recognised Multi-Channel Marketer Level 3 qualification over 20 months.

Investing in the next generation isn’t just about supporting young people. It can be a real investment in the future of your business too.

In her latest article, our Founder Sue Land explores why apprentices can bring fresh perspectives, enthusiasm and valuable skills to small businesses. For us, it’s about giving someone the opportunity to learn, develop and show us what they can do, while also bringing a fresh perspective to our team.

If you know someone who might be interested, or perhaps you’re a small business considering taking on an apprentice yourself, have a read: https://yourmarketingteam.co.uk/blog/youth-unemployment-valuing-the-next-generation-as-an-asset

AI has become a fantastic tool to support the PR function of any marketing team, but it does have limitations and should be used with caution in an industry where human relationships are critical to success.

Our PR Consultant, Laura Taylor has pulled together her top 5 do’s for using AI to help with PR tasks.

Laura’s first top tip - DO use AI for brainstorming:

When you’re stuck in a creative rut, AI is excellent for generating different headlines, storytelling angles, starting points and themes to explore, helping to drive creative thinking.

DO use AI to encourage journalist response:

If you’re sending a high-stakes, one-opportunity pitch email, test it first using AI. Ask AI to act as a cynical journalist bored of fluff and find out if your pitch is strong enough. Upload examples of content written by your target journalist or the publication your journalist works for; this allows the LLM to understand the kind of content that will catch their eye and can give suggestions to improve your pitch email.

DO leverage AI for scaling research

Summarise lengthy industry research papers, news and insights into bite-sized bulleted data that supports or enhances brand storytelling. Be mindful that LLMs are prone to hallucinating so ensure you double check the research before sending this to a journalist or publication.

DO give AI the tools to learn more about your brand

Upload openly available brand assets, examples of tone of voice and high-performing press materials to help LLMs ‘learn’ your brand. Treat it like an employee who needs to learn the business, and it will be more likely to provide ‘on-brand’ solutions when asked.

Laura’s final tip - DO use it to sharpen and repurpose content

Once a human has written a great core piece of content, ask AI to check the flow, structure and suggest ideas for repurposing it across all your social media channels (e.g. LinkedIn, Instagram). A member of your team should check all content to ensure authenticity and consistent brand voice are maintained.

Like any list of do’s, there are always some don’ts. To learn about Laura’s 5 don’ts when using AI for PR tasks: https://yourmarketingteam.co.uk/blog/using-ai-for-pr

The PR industry, much like many others, has undergone a huge shift in the past decade. We have moved from traditional print coverage taking centre stage to a hybrid blend of influencers, podcasts, digital coverage and brand-owned content all playing a role.

This shift has affected marketing strategies over the years, and marketers have adapted, learning to use new tools and update success metrics. Part of this evolution involves using AI for time-consuming tasks such as pulling journalist lists and scaling research. But there are some things which AI should not be used for.

Our PR Consultant, Laura Taylor has pulled together her top 5 dos and don’ts for using AI for PR: https://yourmarketingteam.co.uk/blog/using-ai-for-pr

In June we welcomed work experience student Hannah Craig, into our Reigate office for a week. During her time at Your Marketing Team she produced a blog exploring brand identity in saturated markets.

Brand identity is a crucial part of building a business for growth. This is true for all businesses from iconic global conglomerates to small independent high-street businesses. Thinking about your tone of voice, messaging, Brand Guidelines, and your strategy to position yourself in the market against your competitors are all relevant topics to cover, despite the size of your business.

Hannah’s article is now live on our website; you can view it here: https://yourmarketingteam.co.uk/blog/building-a-strong-brand-identity-in-saturated-markets
