Masham Discussion Group Farm Walk. Thursday 4th June. Coach leaves from Masham market place at 8.00am. We will be visiting Mike Powley at Green Hammerton (Beef) and M & P Hutchinson, Scarborough (Beef, Arable, Renewable Energy). Calling at the Forge Valley Pub, West Ayton at 5pm, where the menu is Haddock & Chips, Steak and Ale Pie, Lasagna, Gammon Egg & Chips, Beef Burger & Chips. Cost of the trip is £40 per person. Masham Agricultural Discussion Group have organised a farm walk for Thursday 28th August leaving Masham Market place at 7.30am. We are visiting Taylors Farm, in Lancashire run by the Webster Family. A large Arable farm, which fattens 450 cattle to go through their own farm shop. They also have a grain processing business and small Feed Business. In the afternoon we are visiting Nick Eccles near Preston. A modern 200 cow dairy unit using four Robots. We will have an evening meal at the Cross Keys Pub near Preston, menu choice Gammon, Steak Pie, Haddock and Chips, Fish Pie, Cheeseburger and Chips. Arriving back in Masham late evening. Cost of the coach and one course meal £35 per person. Please contact Ian Bradley to book your place on a first come first serve basis. Mark Marley.

Masham Agricultural Discussion Groups next meeting is this Thursday, 13th February. Our speaker is Neil McGowen, a mixed Sheep, Beef and Arable farmer from Blairgowrie, Scotland. Neil is a former Nuffield Scholar and hoists his own annual on farm sale of Pedigree Tups and Pedigree Simmental Bulls. This will be an excellent talk. Masham Sports Pavilion 7.30pm.

Masham Agricultural Discussion groups next meet will be next Thursday 14th November. Our speaker is Mike Patch, Estate Manager for Lord Bathurst estate based near Cirencester in the Cotswolds. The 15000 acre estate of which 10,000 is farmed in hand is mainly arable with a Dairy herd. The estate also has a renowned Pheasant Shoot, and also run a team of Polo horses. Masham Agricultural Discussion Groups next meeting is this Thursday,14th March. Our speaker for the evening is GSC Grays. They will be covering the latest information on the SFI scheme and the new payments and also discussing how important Carbon Credit payments will be going forward for Agriculture. Please meet at the Sports Pavilion for 7.30pm.

Thank you to everyone who attended last night’s meeting of the discussion group. Our speakers Warrendale Wagyu explained to the audience the Warrendale business strategy, how farmers could get involved and their plans for the future of Warrendale Wagyu. Our thanks go to the Warrendale team for their presentation and for the delicious Wagyu burger supper.
