RENÉ LALIQUE (French, 1860–1945)
A ‘Ceylan’ Vase, designed 1924

One of Lalique’s most celebrated designs, the ‘Ceylan’ vase features a beautifully moulded frieze of parrots perched amongst stylised foliage, a perfect example of Lalique’s mastery of sculptural glass and Art Deco design. The opalescent finish enhances the depth and detail of the relief, giving the birds a wonderful luminous quality.

Our Fine Art & Antiques Sale including Coins & Stamps takes place 18–19 March, and the catalogue is now live.

Craftsmanship, character, and an unmistakable signature 🐭

In our 19 February auction, we are pleased to offer Lot 1245 — a pair of Mouseman oak smoking chairs by Robert Thompson of Kilburn.

Each chair is crafted in solid oak, featuring a slung leather back, straight arms, solid seat and sides, and a leather-covered seat cushion. True to Thompson’s celebrated workshop tradition, both pieces bear the charming carved mouse signature — a mark that has become one of the most recognisable emblems in British furniture design.

With backs measuring 103.5cm high, these chairs combine robust craftsmanship with understated Arts & Crafts elegance. Built to last and designed to age beautifully, Mouseman furniture remains highly sought after for both its integrity of construction and its distinctive personality.

Celebrate love in its most romantic form this Valentine’s Day ❤️

Lot 898 in our auction on 19 February is a timeless symbol of devotion:
An old-cut diamond two stone Toi et Moi ring, set with two sparkling old-cut diamonds to elegant bypass scroll shoulders, stamped ‘18CT PLAT’.

“Toi et Moi” — French for “You and Me” — is one of the most meaningful designs in jewellery history. The two stones sit side by side, representing two souls joined together in love, equality, and partnership. A style favoured by romantics for centuries, it remains one of the most poetic expressions of commitment.

With an estimated total diamond weight of 0.90 carat, ring size J½, and weighing 2.3 grams, this beautifully balanced piece captures both antique charm and enduring sentiment.

Whether a declaration, a promise, or a celebration of lasting love, discover Lot 898 in our 19 February auction.
