An old price list from 2004!! Note building materials were more or less immune from price inflation for 20 years!!..also making hot mixed lime mortar before they got trendy!! Life was easier back then..

Happy New Year all!! 2026 is a special year as it marks our 30th anniversary!! We are marking the occasion with some special events over the year. The first of which is a limited edition 30th anniversary t-shirt with a special design from the very talented called ‘Hot mixed since 96’. It’s dedicated to the founder of Chalk Down Lime - Paul Reed Paul is a medieval timber-frame expert with over 60 years in the trade! Chalk Down Lime started life as a specialist building company and conservation consultancy. Paul realised early on that using the correct materials was crucial when working on historic buildings and first started experimenting with slaking lime and making lime mortars and plasters. 30 years later we’re still going making our quality lime products from our East Sussex works!! Huge thanks goes out to all our loyal customers over that time it is very much appreciated!! Declan & all the team @ CDL..

Our summer sale continues into August and last chance to grab a bargain. It includes -20% off ISONAT T&G boards in 40mm and 60mm depth. New LIME PLASTER bags (bottom row). We’ve gone back to the one bag so we can procure more and keep prices low. These clear bags still have 30% recycled content and are colour coded with the actual product inside. Base = light grey, Medium = buff, Finish = white. Base will now be in the new bags, medium and finish in the next year and few months respectfully as we clear down old stock of the previous bags..One thing that will never change is the quality, it’s no secret why plasterers like our premixed lime plasters as they are nice to use and very workable it’s because they have more lime in them! They are always hot mixed and made at an equivalent of a 1:2 mix ratio (lime putty:sand)

Lovely to revisit Boxley Abbey for the reunion to celebrate this 7 year conservation and renovation project which is now (almost) finished. We made the initial introduction at Oxted Quarry to source the famous Grey Lime that was burned on site and helped formulate the mortar mix which was a blend of Crushed local limestone aggregate from .group in Maidstone, Kent and a local clay rich building sand from in Wrotham, Kent. It was a massive collaborate effort from everyone involved and big thanks goes to Johnny, Pip and Co at SPAB for reaching out and making it all happen. 👏👏
