📢 First aid as an SIA licence condition? It's on the table.

🩺 The Security Industry Authority (SIA) is consulting on a proposal that Close Protection Operatives, Door Supervisors and Security Officers must hold an in-date first aid certificate for the whole 3 years of their SIA licence.

⚠️ To be clear, this is a proposal and not yet a rule. Nothing has changed today.

📋 How it works now: first aid is checked once, before you start your licence-linked course, and your certificate only needs 12 months left on it. It can run out partway through your licence.

🔍 What's proposed: you'd need to keep your certificate in date for the life of your licence. If it lapsed, you wouldn't be able to work under your licence, and the SIA could take enforcement action.

💬 The SIA is also asking whether there should be a new security-specific first aid qualification.

🗣️ They want to hear from licence holders, employers, trainers and the public, so make your voice count.

⏳ The consultation closes at 23:59 on Friday 23 October.

👏 Well done to everyone on this week's Level 3 First Response Emergency Care (FREC3) course. They finished with their final exercise: a multi-casualty scenario built to feel like the real thing.

🚑 Realistic scenarios, casualty actors and hands-on Pre-Hospital Care Training. No dry classroom days.

It's ideal if you work in the Private Security Industry.
And it's a prerequisite if you're going on to Close Protection.
