Romsey Air Cadets take part in a wide range of activities based around Air, Space and Cyber, leadership and teamwork.

18/09/2026

Today 6 cadets from the squadron visited 2 Air Experience Flight. Here they spent the morning undertaking safety briefs and training before getting airborne in the Grob Tutor T1 under the instruction of military pilots. The Tutor T1 is an elementary trainer used for initial pilot training in the UK armed forces. All the cadets took control of the aircraft and flew some aerobatics with a couple receiving their initial flight certificates. A great experience.

The Squadron was proud to support the Romsey Branch of the Royal Air Force Association at this years Battle of Britain service.

The Squadron will be holding an open evening for prospective new cadets on Tuesday 15th September from 1930 hrs. If you are interested to see what we activities we undertake please come down and say hello. We look forward to seeing you.

What a scorcher of a day!

Thankfully due to an earlier start than normal 2 Air Experience Flight managed to get 6 of our cadets airborne in the Tutor T1 elementary trainer before the temperature soared too high.
Thank you to the staff at 2 AEF and also the escorting 1391 staff.

Cadets built and tested their own water rockets last night. They learnt that these rockets use water as its reaction mass, expelled by pressurized air to generate thrust.

The Squadron hosted their Annual General Meeting this week. With cadets, staff and parents enjoying a bbq afterwards.

To keep the cadets cool last night the staff served ice cream. The cadets then had quiz about the squadrons history. 🍧🍨🍦

In other news Squadron Leader Joss Whalvin came down to the Squadron to promote Flight Sergeant Dave Symonds to Warrant Officer.

Recently 1391 Squadron had a visit from the Romsey Show Committee to present the Squadron with a donation of £250. Cadets from the squadron support the Romsey Show every year by volunteering to support the event as well as manning the Squadron stand.

We are looking forward to this years show in September. See you there. 😀

Cadets & staff from the squadron brushed up on their map reading skills today exploring the Ashley Walk bombing range. This included finding the largest craters, standing in the observation post, having lunch on top of the "Submarine Pen" and being distracted by a Spitfire fly past. At the finish whilst enjoying a much needed ice cream Cadets Martin & Poyntz-Galea received their blue DofE badges.
