This week was our very first full week of home ed with both kids (Issy’s already a month in) – and it’s been a full one.
Around my full-time Tech Agency hours we’ve managed to fit in:
• Scooter park & trampolining
• Baking cookies (and eating them, obviously)
• Big Sister Club + football (twice)
• A baking class
• Walks with the dog
• A trip to the Royal Armouries
• Maths & English learning
• Starting to learn Portuguese on Duolingo
• Looking after baby Jae on Wednesday morning with a library trip and breakfast out
• And I even fit in a client meeting in Leeds
Not every week will be this busy (thankfully), but that’s the beauty of it, we get to shape our days in a way that works for us.
And here’s the thing: I haven’t cut down my business hours. I’m still working the same hours. What’s shifted is the balance. Sometimes that means taking my laptop and working while the kids are in their sports sessions, or checking in and doing bits on my phone while having a coffee at the skate park.
I can’t take all the credit, Carl does a lot of it with us too – but it just shows that it’s doable. It’s not always neat, and we’ll keep figuring it out as we go, but this is the freedom I wanted: to run a thriving business and still be present for the adventures, the lessons, and the everyday moments with the kids.
