Turtle Medical An innovative manufacturer of defibrillator cabinets, bleed control cabinets and bleed control kits and supplier of medical equipment.

Turtle Medical was founded in 2011. It is a family-run business that designs, engineers and manufactures indoor and outdoor defibrillator cabinets to bespoke specifications. In 2020 it created the UK’s first bleed control cabinet and in 2023 the first solar and wind powered defib and bleed control cabinet. The company also supplies approved medical equipment and has numerous partnerships with charities, such as the Daniel Baird Foundation. Customers include UK-wide Police, Fire and Ambulance Services and local and parish councils, as well as railway stations and stadiums like St Pancras and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Molineux Stadium. Every element of a Turtle cabinet is manufactured in the UK and cabinets can be built to standard or bespoke specifications, meeting any branding or installation requirements and specifications linked to Listed Building status. Our defibrillator and bleed control cabinets are expertly engineered to keep the medical equipment secure and heat-regulated where required. All our cabinets are IP66 rated (fully waterproof and dustproof) and have the highest impact rating available (IK10); furthermore, we are the only company to hold this certification. Our cabinets can have remote monitoring systems added to them to allow custodians to check on the status of the cabinet at any time, giving them peace of mind about the status of the door, hook switch or temperature inside the cabinet. 🩸Think bleed control kits are only for areas where violent crime and knife attacks happen? Think again.

We hear of many positive stories where a bleed kit has been used to treat a severe bleeding injury. Are you surprised to hear that the majority of incidents have nothing to do with knife crime?

Here’s some real-life examples.

🚘 Road traffic incidents:

Bleeding injuries have ranged from seat belt lacerations to tree branches and other objects piercing windscreens.

Motorbike riders have suffered horrendous limb and torso wounds.

Pedestrians are often the most vulnerable when they come into contact with a road vehicle. One lady was recently treated after a road traffic accident outside a school – luckily the school had a bleed control kit outside in a public cabinet.

🏭 Workplace injuries:

Workers operate cutting equipment and machinery - a local butcher and a large manufacturing factory have used bleed kits.

🏡 Bleeds at home:

Gardening, cooking, even slipping on icy ground have all caused bleeding injuries in and around people’s homes.

🫂 Self-harm:

With mental health issues arguably at an all-time high, sadly there are many incidents of bleeding injuries caused by self-harm.

⚽ Sport:

There was the 10-year-old boy who tripped over a kerb playing football and the dad who tripped over his own flip flop whilst throwing/catching a rugby ball with his son (yes really).

💃 Recreation:

An elderly lady fell at her local social club (we like to think she was having a good time dancing to an Elvis impersonator at the time but this has not been confirmed) and a man who cut into his own leg by mistake during a tyre change (new punctured wheel proved tricky as cover secured by cable tie).

🚑 These bleeds are the most unexpected, the most unpredictable and therefore often the hardest to treat. With only 3-5 minutes to control a critical bleed, kits must be readily available, quick to access, and easy to use.

Incidents like this happen every day and then there’s the additional pressure on our emergency services managing knife crime and violent attacks.

The Daniel Baird Foundation was so proud of the girls’ efforts, they donated 2 more kits!

💚 We wanted to know if the HeartHero Elliot could really live up to its IP66 rating and its claim to be one of the lightest, most portable AEDs on the market - not on a spec sheet, but somewhere that would actually punish it 🥶

⚡ We showed you the size of the HeartHero Elliot AED, now we’ll introduce you properly.

One of the newest defibrillators approved for use in the UK, the Elliot is all about making an emergency device as simple, lightweight and easy to use as possible. At just 671g, it’s fully automatic, has built-in CPR guidance, daily self-testing, Bluetooth connectivity and a simple child mode using the same pads.

🏡 Particularly well suited to home use, but it’s a great option wherever a lightweight, rescue-ready AED is needed. It even went on holiday to Iceland with our Mike… photos coming!
