Replacing an old vented tumble dryer? You’ll probably find yourself looking at heat pump models.

They use less electricity, but they can cost more to buy. So the question isn’t simply which dryer has the lowest ticket price. It’s which one suits your laundry routine, the space you have and what you want to spend over time.

There’s also a change coming: new efficiency rules in Great Britain will phase out less efficient vented and conventional condenser dryers after the transition ends in January 2027. That doesn’t mean you need to stop using the dryer you already own.

Repair it again, or replace it?

There isn’t one answer for every appliance. A straightforward repair might keep a machine going for years. But if you’ve already paid for several repairs and another fault has appeared, it’s reasonable to start looking at the alternatives.

Before choosing a replacement, think about what you’d keep from your current appliance, and what frustrates you about it. Perhaps you need more space, a different layout or something that fits your kitchen better.

Thinking of replacing your vented tumble dryer with another vented model?

From January, manufacturers will stop producing them as the market moves towards more energy-efficient alternatives. Existing dryers can still be used, but new vented models will become increasingly difficult to find once remaining stock has sold.

For most households, a heat pump dryer will now be the best long-term choice. It uses considerably less energy and doesn’t need an external vent, although cycles can take longer and the purchase price is usually higher.

Condenser dryers remain another option, particularly where the upfront budget matters.

If your vented dryer is coming to the end of its life, now is a good time to understand what will fit and work in its place.

Integrated or freestanding — which appliance actually fits your kitchen?

Integrated appliances sit behind a matching cabinet door for a streamlined finish. Freestanding models are usually easier to install, replace and take with you if you move.

Six apartments were being renovated — and the new tenants were due to move in.

The landlord urgently needed six ovens supplied and installed before the handover dates. We helped choose suitable models, checked availability and coordinated the deliveries and installations around the remaining renovation work.

Everything was completed in time for the tenants moving in, without the landlord having to arrange separate suppliers and installers.

When several properties need appliances at once, good coordination matters just as much as the products.
