Your Office & PA started its telephone answering service in 2007. Our telephone answering and reception services were originally introduced to offer call answering and PA services to a network of marketing consultants across the UK, many of which were using a telephone answering service but were dissatisfied with the “call centre” impersonal service they received. Your Office & PA was formed to of

fer the consultants a professional and friendly service, using PA’s that they could talk to and get to know as part of their team. A bespoke online system was developed that allowed the PA’s to accurately and quickly log all messages and calls for each consultant, enabling them to easily pick up and respond to their messages. By early 2008 Gordon Finlay, Managing Director, was asked to look at the potential of launching the Your Office & PA system to businesses outside the marketing consultants network. At this point Sarah Basey joined the team as a marketing and operations manager to work with Gordon to launch the business. By November 2008 Your Office & PA was growing in customer numbers month by month. Gordon and Sarah felt that the company was being held back by its position as a small concern within a large marketing company. In December 2008 a harmonious management buyout took place and Gordon and Sarah took complete ownership of the company. Our Company Today:

Gordon and Sarah run the business full time and still work hands-on answering calls and overseeing the day-to-day work. The business has come along way since there was just the two of them juggling PA work with running and developing the business. Although there are no plans to change their hands on approach, these days they're supported by an office manager and an excellent team of PA’s, who have been trained to meet their high standards. Being an owner managed business we have much in common with our customers. We understand the importance of making a good first impression and we understand the value of phone calls from customers or new prospects. We’re passionate about our business and strive to offer a flexible service that meets the needs of our customers. We don’t believe in "one size fits all" and we work closely with businesses understanding their requirements and training the PA’s to deliver great service. Our Staff:

Our PA’s are recruited from high calibre candidates with experience in office roles. The whole team is based at the company’s offices in Cheshire. Lights! Camera! Action!🤩

We had a photoshoot in the office yesterday… and let’s just say the makeup artist earned her money.

The girls took it in their stride.

The guys? Slightly less so.

One or two looked like they were questioning their career choice as they were having foundation applied at 9am on a Tuesday!

But honestly — everyone was brilliant. Lots of laughs, lots of “is this my good side?”, and a really fun way to capture the real people behind the calls at Your Office & PA.

🌙 Lifting the Curfew – one run at a time! 🌙

Last night I joined a lovely group of women for a run as part of the This Girl Can – Lift the Curfew campaign.

I always run in the dark — through country lanes, busy streets, and forests — and it’s never really bothered me. But chatting last night made me realise that’s not the same for everyone.

Many women don’t feel safe going out after dark. We’ve been taught to be careful, to text when we’re home, to stick to well-lit paths.

Wouldn’t it be great if we didn’t have to think about all that?

The run was full of laughter, head torches and balloons — a real sense of “we’re in this together.” 💪

🚀 Don’t Leave Your Holiday Planning Until the Last Minute! 🌴📞

We received a call on Friday afternoon from a business owner who needed urgent help (her exact words).

Although she requested information a few months back, we hadn’t connected (despite my efforts!). She needed cover while she was away, so she wouldn’t miss any calls.

"No problem," I said, "we can set that up for you." Once your account is active, you can switch it on and off for holiday or temporary cover whenever you need it.

"Fantastic," she replied, "what information do you need? I’m at the airport, so I don’t have much time..."

And there was the problem. The phone she used to answer her calls was locked in the office, and the only way to set up the divert was from that phone. Oops! 😬

🙌 Busy week alert! 🙌

This Easter holiday, we've been all hands on deck, ensuring our customers' businesses keep ticking over whilst they’re sunning themselves in the Canary Islands (or other holiday related reasons not to be at work). 🐝

From answering calls, to chasing orders and managing those overflowing inboxes, we've covered it all. Our aim? To let our customers enjoy their break fully without the worry of having to "shut up shop" (or juggle work email and calls on the beach). 🏖️

In fact most of the time the callers won’t even know they’re away!

What I’ve learned this week… Business Owners HATE chasing debt! 💼🚫💵

Last week, I took a leap and shared something with my customers that I hadn't focused on before - our invoice chasing service. And wow, the response was overwhelming! 🌟

Triggered by a review on my own company's cash flow, I could clearly see that there’s a noticeable trend of delayed payments (despite our proactive calls, not just emails or automatic reminders). I'm surely not the only one facing this squeeze. 🕰️💸

I’ve been observing a widening gap between invoice due dates and actual payments, alongside a spike in business closures and unpaid debts, and this got me thinking that many of my customers will be in the same situation. 📉

My Top Tip - Adding a human touch to the early stages of debt management can make all the difference. 🤝

But business owners hate to chase money. Transitioning from fostering positive customer relationships to navigating those tricky money conversations can feel really awkward. But here's the thing - we've managed to recover payments for invoices as old as two years, untouched by phone calls until we stepped in. 📞✨
