No matter how you feel - get up, dress up, show up and never give up

“You will never have this day again so make it count”

When I used to think of positive people, I stereotyped them as perfect with perfect lives. They get up at 5am, do yoga and drink peppermint tea (which by the way there is nothing wrong with that) but positivity is so much simpler than that.

When I’m positive, I’m letting go of those that bothered me yesterday or I’ve chosen today to not do that one thing that made me unhappy or sorry for myself. I wear my favourite perfume or treat myself to time out on my own.

It’s not about the big steps it’s about not doing even that one thing that you know uses up your time, energy, emotions and sometimes even your money.

Have a good day and remember it’s ok to not be a bouncing ball of positivity but have a little positive light within and allow it to shine bright.

So it’s nearly bedtime for some and I want to share this with you. If before we go to sleep we recap on the day, what went wrong, who wronged us, what made us sad or angry this then becomes part of our subconscious mind.

We then sleep and those last thoughts stay and our mind kind of marinades while it’s resting. Therefore you are more likely to wake up feeling the same.

Before you go to sleep, take 5 minutes to say out loud or write down all of the good things that you have, what small wins you had today and who made you smile. Think about tomorrow and how you want to feel and let those positive thoughts seep into your mind.

When you wake you should feel happy (maybe tired and grumpy for a bit) but then start the day as you mean to go on.

Give it a try, you have nothing to lose, only to gain.

Sleep well, sleep with peace.

I was bought a positivity jar for Christmas where every day you pull out a piece of paper with a motivational sentence.

Strangely today mine said “every new day is a chance to change your life” pretty much what I wrote in my post last night.

Your thoughts on life start with your own mindset. If we let our troubles change our mindset to a negative one, we will change the outcome of our productivity and effectiveness for that day.

As a small example, if you wake up feeling you slept badly and that you are tired and grumpy then that will dictate your day. Instead think that you can catch up tonight, go to bed early but make the most of today and appreciate your wins because today we are here and that counts for so much.

So it’s day 2 of the new year and I imagine some have found the last 2 weeks challenging for one reason or another. My first piece of advice as a life coach is that it’s ok to admit it wasn’t the perfect Christmas but hey you survived and it’s a new year.

Every day we have the opportunity to start again and make the day better than the last but you need to stop beating yourself up and go a little easy on yourself. I’m sure there have been some glimmers of joy over the festive period but if like me you are probably wanting to just get going with your normal routine.

The next advice is to stop, take a breath, don’t make a million plans for tomorrow or the week and let’s take it slow. Just ask yourself what’s the one thing you want to achieve tomorrow, why and how will it make you feel if you do.

Feel free to comment with your one goal. Mine is to go back to Zumba tomorrow night not because I want to get fit but because I really enjoy it and I stopped making time for my enjoyment 💕
