RETURNING TO RESISTIVITY

After several months break, , HiFARS hopes to return to further their work on the resistivity survey around the castle site in late autumn 2026, under the professional wings of Stephen Parry and Stephen Morris permissions depending. With several other survey and excavation projects under consideration, it should keep us out of mischief for several years, if they reach fruition.

The resistivity survey over the whole of St Mary's Churchyard, Higham Ferrers nears completion. With the Castle Site survey now completed and the report done, we look forward to sharing the results some time next year. Watch this space!

For everyone following our geophysical survey progress, please do a rain dance on 1st October as we plan to continue with the resistivity survey over Higham Ferrers Castle Site during October!

In the lead up to Roman Fest 2025, we are shining the spotlight on activities and organisations that help history step off the page and into real life!

We have more than 25 local museums, community archaeology groups and archaeological companies attending this year, with lots for everyone to do with family activities exploring local heritage, including games, handling objects, trying on a Roman helmet, investigating Roman coins, viewing live conservation and a chance to look the amazing Roman objects in the Archaeological Resource Centre.
