Every year the flea calls start in the second half of August, and every year people say the same thing: it came out of nowhere.
It didn't. Fleas breed fastest in warm, humid weather, so late summer is peak season. Then pets come home from kennels or the cattery, the house has been shut up and empty for two weeks, and everything emerges at once when the family walks back in.
The part most people don't know: flea pupae can lie dormant in your carpet for months inside a cocoon that insecticide can't pe*****te. That's why a supermarket bomb seems to work for 48 hours and then the bites come back. It's also why the problem often returns when the heating goes on in October.
We've written up the full explanation, including what to do before a treatment and why fleas turn up in houses with no pet at all: https://mdpestcontrolsolutions.co.uk/flea-season-st-helens-after-summer-holidays/
