Not every lockout involves a key.

I was called out after residents were unable to gain access through a communal entrance controlled by an electronic access system.

After confirming authority to access the building, I was able to restore entry so residents could get back into the building without causing unnecessary damage to the door or the access system.

Jobs like this are a reminder that modern locksmithing isn’t just about traditional locks. More and more properties now rely on electronic access systems, intercoms and fob entry, and every system presents its own challenge.

High security doesn’t mean impossible.

It means it takes the right knowledge, the right tools and plenty of practice.

This Ultion cylinder was opened non-destructively, meaning the customer kept their existing lock and there was no need for a replacement.

Every lock presents a different challenge, and that’s one of the things I enjoy most about locksmithing.

Whenever possible, my aim is always to get you back inside without unnecessary damage or replacing parts that don’t need replacing.

A shop can’t open if the shutter won’t.

I was called out after an electric roller shutter failed, leaving the premises inaccessible.

After diagnosing the issue, I was able to get the shutter open without unnecessary damage, allowing the customer to regain access and get on with what mattered most—opening their business.

When you’re relying on your premises to trade, every minute counts. Getting you back up and running as quickly as possible is always the priority.

Not every lockout has to end with a new lock.

These are three different jobs from the past few weeks, all with one thing in common…

The customers were locked out, but I was able to gain entry without drilling or replacing the lock.

Whenever possible, my aim is to use non-destructive methods first. It can save time, money and means you get to keep the lock that’s already fitted to your door.

Every lock and every situation is different, so it’s not always possible, but it’s always my first approach before considering more invasive methods.

Key safes are a brilliant bit of kit… when they’re used properly. 🔑

More and more people are relying on them for Airbnb properties, holiday lets, carers, cleaners, family members and emergency access.

But one thing I see all too often is key safes that have been poorly installed, or combinations that haven’t been changed from predictable codes.

In the wrong hands, that can make them much easier to compromise than people realise.

If you’re using a key safe, it’s worth making sure:

✔️ It’s securely fixed to a solid wall.
✔️ You’re using a strong, unique code.
✔️ The code is changed regularly if multiple people have access.
✔️ It’s positioned discreetly rather than in the most obvious location.

A key safe should improve your security and convenience—not become the weakest point of your property.

If you’re unsure whether yours is fitted correctly or would like advice on choosing the right one, feel free to get in touch.

One of today’s jobs came from a short-stay letting company after a guest accidentally posted the property key through the letterbox when checking out. 😅

With the next guests arriving in around 90 minutes, they needed someone there quickly.

I was on site within the hour, gained entry without causing any damage, retrieved the key and secured it back in the key safe ready for the next check-in.

Every day is different in this job, but it’s always satisfying being able to take the stress off someone’s shoulders and get things back on track.

If you manage rental properties or holiday lets and ever find yourself in a similar situation, feel free to get in touch.
