Our analysis indicates that the proposed parking tariff changes would collectively increase annual parking costs for Salisbury’s city‑centre employees by around £3 million per year.

This additional cost has huge implications for businesses, access to jobs, and how easily people can work in the city.

Salisbury BID has submitted this evidence as part of the official TRO consultation, alongside constructive options intended to support accessibility, economic resilience and the city's future.

The TRO consultation is still open for responses - every opinion matters. https://bit.ly/Wiltshire-Parking-TRO

Short‑stay parking plays an important role in supporting everyday city‑centre visits - whether it's popping into a shop, cafe or appointment.

Our analysis shows that Salisbury is already more expensive for short‑stay parking than most other Wiltshire towns, and proposed changes would widen that gap further.

This comparative context has been included in our evidence to the Council, to highlight why Salisbury’s position requires specific consideration within a county‑wide framework.

Sundays are not quiet days in Salisbury.

City‑centre trading on Sundays contributes around £12 million every year, with a typical Sunday generating around £250,000 in spend.

Salisbury BID is making sure the economic importance of Sundays is fully understood as part of the current parking consultation, where a 550% increase in Sunday charging is being proposed.

Salisbury BID represents 500 city‑centre businesses and works to protect and enhance the city’s economy, experience and footfall.
