Welcome to Lumina
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Hi! I’m Jen, the psychotherapeutic counsellor behind Lumina.
There are moments in life when we lose sight of ourselves. Sometimes it happens gradually ~ beneath the weight of expectations, anxiety, trauma, grief, burnout or years spent putting everyone else first. Other times it arrives suddenly, leaving us feeling disconnected from who we are.
My practice is grounded in the person-centred approach, with the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work together. I believe that feeling genuinely seen, heard and accepted can create the conditions for meaningful growth and healing. While person-centred values underpin my practice, I thoughtfully integrate a range of therapeutic ideas and techniques where they may best support your individual needs. As no two people are the same, I tailor my approach to each client ~ offering a compassionate, inclusive and ethical service that respects your unique experiences, strengths and pace.
I strive to create a therapeutic relationship where every part of you is welcome ~ the parts that feel confident and hopeful, alongside the parts that feel frightened, exhausted, angry or uncertain. Together, we can explore your experiences with curiosity, kindness and respect, creating space for greater self-understanding, healing and lasting change. I don’t believe therapy is about fixing who you are - I believe it’s about helping you reconnect with the person you have always been.
Alongside my core therapeutic training, I hold additional qualifications in working with trauma and neurodivergence, enabling me to offer a trauma-informed and neuro-affirming approach that recognises every nervous system, every mind and every story as unique.
For over two years, I have also worked with Bedford Open Door, supporting children and young people aged 13–25. This role has deepened my appreciation of the healing power of authentic human connection and the importance of offering a space where people feel genuinely heard, understood and accepted exactly as they are.
I am fully qualified, fully insured, and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working in accordance with its Ethical Framework.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, navigating life’s challenges, or simply looking for a space to better understand yourself, you are warmly welcome here 🕯️
