What an amazing day at the Taste Lomond event! 🙌

We were so proud to sponsor Scottish Chefs at the very first Scottish Chefs Skills Challenge 👨‍🍳🔥 It was incredible to see the next generation of Scottish chefs in action—so much talent on display!

Wayne and Lee had a fantastic time tasting some of the incredible dishes (tough job, we know 😄), and our own stand was buzzing all day. It was lovely meeting so many great people—and we’re so glad the food went down a treat! 🥪✨

Big shoutout to our chef John, who smashed his live cooking demo and showed just how amazing our products look AND smell while cooking 👌

Thanks to everyone who stopped by—we loved every minute of it ❤️

We’re proud to be supporting the next generation of talent at the Scottish Chefs Skills Challenge at Taste Lomond 2026 👏

Best of luck to all the college teams—this is what it’s all about: real skills, teamwork, and building confidence in the future of hospitality 💪

We can’t wait to see the finalists announced and watch these rising stars in action on 25th March 🔪🔥

📣 Our four college finalists will be announced on Monday for our inaugural National College Team Challenge at the Scottish Chefs Skills Challenge Browns Food Group 2026 at Taste Lomond SECC, Wednesday 25th March.
This competition has a fabulous prize so generously sponsored by Brindisa Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) & Lomond Wholesale
A culinary education trip to London for the winning students and chef lecturer 😮 This competition is all about skills, development & confidence building and the next generation of hospitality processionals. Judges will want to see knife skills, kitchen management, hygiene practices, team work between front of house.
They won’t be looking for Foams! Gels! Or Flowers put on a plate with tweezers!!!!

The food production industry is about so much more than just cooking. It’s a diverse sector filled with exciting careers that combine creativity, science, engineering, and business. In partnership with Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Dumfries & Galloway, we are showing the next generation that there is a place for every talent in this field.

Some of the roles involved include:
• Food Production Engineers – designing the machines that make large-scale production possible ⚙️
• Packaging Designers – creating packaging that stands out while meeting important food safety regulations 🎨
• Supply Chain Managers – ensuring ingredients arrive on time and products reach stores efficiently 🚚
• Quality Assurance Specialists – making sure everything is safe, hygienic and top quality ✔️
• Sales & Marketing Professionals – helping great products reach customers 📢

At Browns Food Group, we’re proud to be working alongside Sanquhar Academy to help share knowledge about the food and drink industry and educate local young individuals about the wide range of opportunities available as they start thinking about their futures.
