🏴‍☠️ CURIOSITY OF THE WEEK... AHOY THERE! ☠️

Shiver me timbers... what have we here?

This striking cotton flag depicts the famous design traditionally associated with Blackbeard, arguably the most feared pirate ever to sail the seas. Featuring a horned skeletal figure, spear and bleeding heart, it's certainly a design that was intended to strike fear into anyone who saw it!

🤔 Did Blackbeard actually fly this flag?

Historians still can't agree. Some believe this iconic design is genuine, while others think it became associated with Blackbeard many years after his death. Either way, it remains one of the most recognisable pirate emblems in history.

Our example is a well-made double-sided cotton appliqué flag, complete with hand-finished halyard stitching, and comes from a private collection. It has clearly seen some age and use, adding to its charm and intrigue.
