How do you actually know when it's time to hire a Virtual Assistant?

Maybe your admin is starting to take up more of your time than you'd like, you're regularly working outside your normal hours or there are jobs that you keep putting off or moving onto tomorrow's list.

Maybe there are things you want to do in your business, but you just don't have the time to get to them.

There's no single point where somebody hands you a certificate saying:
Congratulations. You may now hire a VA. 😂

Getting support doesn't have to mean handing over control of half your business or committing to hours and hours of support every month either.

I've put together a blog looking at some of the signs that it might be time to consider getting some help, what a VA can actually help you with and the different ways that support can work.

You can read the full blog on my website.

At some point, we've probably all convinced ourselves that the answer is a new notebook, a new app, a new spreadsheet, definitely some more sticky notes or maybe even a whole new system entirely.

This one will be different. This one will change everything. This one will definitely be the answer.

And then three weeks later (maybe not even that), you're back to writing things down in whichever notebook happens to be closest.

Sometimes though, you don't actually need another system for organising everything you need to do. You just need enough time to get through some of the things already waiting on the list.

Because a prettier to-do list is, unfortunately, still a to-do list.

Sometimes the problem isn't how you're organising the list. There's just too much on it and not enough hours in the day.

Have you thought about what September is going to look like?

With just under a week of August left, for a lot of businesses things start getting busier again once we're into September.

August can be a quieter month for a lot of people, making it a good time to catch up on a few things, make plans and think about what you want the next few months to look like.

But while you've been making those plans, have you thought about what you actually want to be spending your time on?

There might be things you know need to be done, but they end up taking up more of your time than you really want them to. Admin, research, keeping systems and files updated, or some of those other back-of-house jobs that still need to be finished.

This is where having some extra support can help.

The support I offer isn't just about admin. It can be those smaller jobs that take up more time than expected, ongoing tasks that need keeping on top of, or a project that you could do with an extra pair of hands on.

Taking some of that work off your list means you can spend more of your time on the parts of your business you actually want to work on or grow.

So if outsourcing has been somewhere in your September plans, or even your plans for the rest of the year, now might be a good time to have a chat about what you actually need help with.

Send me a message if you'd like to have a chat.

Every business owner has said it.

"I'll just quickly do that."

Famous last words.

The image needs resizing, your computer suddenly decides that now is the time for a software update and the file isn't where you thought it was. But you swear it was definitely there yesterday.

Halfway through, you remember another job that urgently needs doing. Before you know it, an hour's passed and you're wondering where your afternoon went.

It's one of the reasons those small jobs keep getting put off. Not necessarily because they're difficult, but because *it'll only take five minutes* very rarely means it'll actually take five minutes.

If those “quick five-minute jobs” are starting to take up more of your time than you'd like, send me a message and let's see what I can take off your list.

Yes - for this post I'd keep them relevant and fairly tight rather than adding a huge block:

Has anyone else completely lost track of what day of the week it is this summer? 😂

With only a couple of weeks left until they go back to school, I can't lie - as much as I've enjoyed having them home, I'm definitely very ready for them to go back. Pretty sure they feel the same way too.

We've had some really good days out, I've finally managed to catch up with friends and family that I've been meaning to see for ages but have just been so busy. There's still a few more things coming up before they go back which should be nice.

But six weeks without the usual routine throws everything out of sync. Half the time I can't remember what day of the week it is at the minute. It all just seems to be blurring into one with all the snack requests, days out, keeping them entertained, working and what feels like about 47 heatwaves thrown in for good measure.

There have definitely been days where we've all felt like we're melting and the garden currently looks like a desert. But we finally had some proper rain yesterday and I don't think I've ever been so happy to see it!

Give it a few months and I'll probably be moaning about it instead. 😂

You did everything right.

You answered the emails that came through.

Replied to messages in good time.

Solved a problem or two. Maybe even three.

Then dealt with another one.

Remembered three things you were originally meant to get done.

Forgot where you saved a document.

Then found the document.

Answered some more emails.

Worked non-stop all day.

Then looked at your to-do list and wondered how on earth it's still as long... or, if we're being honest, even longer than when you started this morning.

Some days just feel like that.

If a few of those jobs keep finding their way back onto your to-do list, that's where I come in.

When people start a business, it's usually because they love what they do.

What people don't always think about is everything else.

The emails.

The invoices.

The admin.

The follow-ups.

The paperwork.

And trying to remember where you saved that document six months ago because you're absolutely certain it exists somewhere.

Running a business involves a lot more than people first realise.

It's often the smaller jobs that end up taking more time than expected.

That's where an extra pair of hands comes in.

I help neurodivergent business owners with the tasks that keep being moved down the list.

Think of me as an extra pair of hands, helping with the jobs you keep meaning to get round to.

The summer holidays are nearly here.

Which means business as usual... just with more snack requests, more arguments over whose turn it is, and hearing your name approximately every 30 seconds.

For some businesses, summer can be a little quieter.

But the admin doesn't know the summer holidays are just around the corner.

The inbox still fills up.

The jobs that have been sitting on your to-do list for a while are still there waiting.

For lots of business owners, summer is a good time to get organised, tidy a few things up and plan for the second half of the year.

That's where an extra pair of hands comes in.

So when the "Mum...", "Where's my...?" and "Can I have a snack?" starts, your business can keep moving too.

If a few jobs have been waiting their turn, I'd love to help.

Most business owners aren't dealing with one massive problem.

It's usually twenty smaller ones.

The email that needs replying to.

The blog that still needs uploading.

The invoice that needs chasing.

The website update you've been meaning to get round to.

None of them feels particularly urgent on its own.

But then there's another one.

And another.

And another.

Before you know it you've got a list that's growing faster than you can tick things off.

If your to-do list is starting to feel longer than your arm, send me a message.

"As a disabled and neurodivergent entrepreneur having Charly's VA support for my business is invaluable, taking the heavy lifting of day-to-day administration and organisation making sure that nothing gets missed.Allowing me more time to focus on supporting clients and delivering training sessions. This support has allowed me to manage my business and my long-term health conditions more effectively and I have no hesitation in highly recommending her support."

Thank you so much for the feedback. It was lovely working with you.
If you'd like to find out how I can support your business, drop me a message.
