Sparkling Star UL290 in landing earlier this morning with just under 500 boxes for the auction. Prices were strong highlights were cod upto £10.75/kg and haddock upto £6.50/kg, and medium hake making £7.65.

The Spatial squeeze happening in our waters now is becoming a real issue. The rate of offshore developments and lost ground a real cause for concern.

Shetland's fishing sector has called for a pause on new offshore wind approvals and “robust compensation” for any loss of grounds.

The Shetland Fishermen’s Association has today published its manifesto for the 2026 Holyrood elections, calling on candidates to champion the industry.

The SFA has also called for a stop on new offshore wind approvals until “impacts on fishing grounds are fully resolved”, and compensation can be agreed for loss of earnings.
