This is the hardest transition, and this is also the nap that is also often dropped too early.

Children often still need to sleep in the day until they are 3 and sometimes longer than that. At age 2 & 2.5 they can go through periods where they fight bedtime and their nap. These periods are temporary and not usually a sign they need to drop their nap. These periods could be a sign that naps need to be shortened or bedtime needs to be adjusted. It could also just be a normal part of your child's development.

It is important to know that sleep isn't always linear. They will go through periods where they sleep really well and periods where they fight sleep.

This nap is usually reduced gradually over time so that by 3 years it’s usually only an hour or sometimes just a short power nap to see them through. If it is dropped too early, you may experience some challenging behaviour ie "the terrible twos" "threenager"

If your little ones last nap is affecting bedtime, and they are under 3, you could always try bringing it slightly earlier in the day so they are waking earlier, reducing the length of the nap, or pushing their bedtime slightly later temporarily. Before you drop the nap completely.

Have you considered how visible your child would be under the water in different coloured swimsuits and trunks?
The brilliant team at Aquatic Safety Connection has tested how different colours appear in various water types and states, such as swimming pools, choppy waters, and murky ponds and lakes.

The brilliant team at Aquatic Safety Connection has tested how different colours appear in various water types and states, such as swimming pools, choppy waters, and murky ponds and lakes.
You can see from this image that white and light blue are almost invisible to the eye when at the bottom of a pool with agitated water. Dark colours are visible but can sometimes be mistaken for shadows or pool equipment.
Something to consider when you are next shopping for summer swimwear, opt for bright and contrasting colours.

If you are struggling with short naps, frequent night wakings or just a little confused by all the information out there around sleep. My 3 step process helps you cut out all of the conflicting information to help you find a flexible, calm and supportive approach to sleep.

Last few days to book my sleep workshop in Seaton starting on Monday. I have just 2 spaces left. I am extending the early bird offer until Saturday so it's £25 for 4 sessions, plus WhatsApp support throughout.

This is everything you would get from a 1:1 package with me, at a fraction of the price. Plus you get to have a cup of tea a chat and meet other parents in the same boat.

Last couple of spaces left now.

I’ve been asked by a few people, what holistic sleep means. It just means that we look at the whole picture. We look at all aspects that might be affecting sleep rather than just sleep training. Which makes it more gentle and child focused.
We also look at making things easier and more flexible for busy families, whether you just have a busy life, or you need to fit around your other children.

Just a few more days left for the early bird offer of £25. Please get in touch asap via here or WhatsApp, if you’d like to book.
