Supporting our people and the communities around our depots….

We have installed defibrillators at every Safer Roadworks depot, improving access to potentially lifesaving equipment for our colleagues, sub-contractors, visitors and local communities.

Every device has been registered on The Circuit, the national defibrillator network. This allows ambulance services to see its location and availability when responding to a cardiac emergency.

The defibrillators were purchased through the British Heart Foundation, supporting the charity’s work alongside our investment in emergency preparedness across our depot network.

For us, social value means making practical contributions in the places where we operate. These installations are one way we can support our teams and make an important resource available to the wider community.

Safer Roadworks appoints new Group Managing Director….

We are pleased to welcome Matthew Hammond TTME(IHE) as Group Managing Director of Safer Roadworks, leading the business into its next stage of growth and development, and beyond.

Many across the industry will know Matt from his 28-year career at Chevron Traffic Management, where he progressed from frontline operations to Director. He brings extensive industry knowledge, strong commercial and operational leadership, and a clear commitment to people, safety and quality.

Matt will take responsibility for the businesses day-to-day leadership and overall performance, with a focus on strengthening our operational capability, delivering sustainable profitability and building long-term value, whist maintaining our commitments of health, safety, quality, sustainability and wellbeing.

Following a transition period, our founder, Jake Waudby, will step aside from the day-to-day running of the business and assume the role of Chairman of the Board. Jake will remain actively involved in the Group’s strategic direction, capital allocation, mergers and acquisitions, supporting Matt and his leadership team as the business continues to expand.

This appointment marks an important milestone for Safer Roadworks. Having built the Group from incorporation in 2021, we are now strengthening our leadership structure to support the scale of the business and the opportunities ahead.

Safety through collaboration, learning and shared responsibility.

Today, Maria King-Smith, our Health, Safety & Social Value Manager, and Luke Poulston, our Regional Operations Manager, represented Safer Roadworks at the Amey Safety Stand Down Day.

A fantastic way to spend an embargo Friday, taking time away from normal operations to focus on what remains our industry’s most important priority, ensuring everyone goes home safe at the end of every shift.

The day provided a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, discuss best practice and engage with colleagues from across the highways sector, alongside informative guest sessions from SRL Traffic Systems and Musgrove and Ball .

It was also great to catch up with familiar faces from across the industry and continue building the relationships and collaboration that are essential to improving safety standards across our sector.

At Safer Roadworks, we believe that strong safety performance comes from continually learning, challenging established practices and working collaboratively across the supply chain.

Yesterday, Safer Roadworks had the privilege of attending the National Highways Incursions Working Group meeting in Birmingham, where we are proud to play our part as members of this important industry forum.

Before the day’s agenda began, we took a moment to reflect on the recent tragic loss of a roadworker. It was a poignant reminder that behind every discussion, innovation and decision is a shared purpose: ensuring that everyone working on or using our road network returns home safely.

The meeting itself was exceptionally well organised, bringing together industry professionals from across the sector for a day packed with valuable learning, practical innovation and open collaboration. It was encouraging to see so many organisations sharing their experiences, different perspectives and ideas, all with a common goal of continually improving safety standards across our industry.

By working together, challenging existing practices and embracing innovation, we can continue to reduce incursions, protect our workforce and the travelling public, and drive meaningful improvements across the UK’s road network.

A sincere thank you to National Highways and everyone involved in delivering such an informative and worthwhile event. We look forward to continuing to support this important work.

Champions On and Off the Pitch - Proud to Support Grassroots Sport Nationwide! ⚽ 🏈

At Safer Roadworks, we are proud to support grassroots sport in the communities where we live, work and operate across the UK.

Grassroots football and rugby play a vital role in shaping young people’s lives - teaching teamwork, discipline, resilience, confidence and respect, while helping to build lifelong friendships and healthier futures. Supporting local clubs, teams and young athletes is an investment in the next generation, both on and off the pitch.

Each year, we select around 15 teams across the country to receive a variety of sponsorship packages within grassroots football and rugby, alongside supporting individual young players on their sporting journeys. Giving back to local communities and helping young people thrive through sport is something we are deeply passionate about.

As the season comes to an end, we would like to congratulate Newport Pagnell Town Football Club Under 9 Lions on an incredible year.
