Safety through collaboration, learning and shared responsibility.

Today, Maria King-Smith, our Health, Safety & Social Value Manager, and Luke Poulston, our Regional Operations Manager, represented Safer Roadworks at the Amey Safety Stand Down Day.

A fantastic way to spend an embargo Friday, taking time away from normal operations to focus on what remains our industry’s most important priority, ensuring everyone goes home safe at the end of every shift.

The day provided a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, discuss best practice and engage with colleagues from across the highways sector, alongside informative guest sessions from SRL Traffic Systems and Musgrove and Ball .

It was also great to catch up with familiar faces from across the industry and continue building the relationships and collaboration that are essential to improving safety standards across our sector.

At Safer Roadworks, we believe that strong safety performance comes from continually learning, challenging established practices and working collaboratively across the supply chain.

Thank you to Amey for the invitation and for delivering an informative and worthwhile event.

At Safer Roadworks, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to build a successful and rewarding career.

That’s why we’re incredibly proud to announce that we have achieved Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) certification.

For us, this isn’t simply a badge or a certificate, it’s a commitment. A commitment to creating opportunities, removing barriers, and ensuring that talented people are judged by their skills, attitude and potential, not by a disability or health condition.

The traffic management industry is built on people. We know that by embracing diversity and creating an inclusive workplace, we become a stronger business, a better employer, and a better partner for our clients.

Whether someone is starting their career, returning to work, or looking for a fresh opportunity, we want Safer Roadworks to be a place where they feel welcomed, supported and empowered to succeed.

We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, but we also recognise that inclusion is an ongoing journey. We’ll continue to listen, learn and invest in creating a workplace where everyone can thrive.

Together with our commitments through the Armed Forces Covenant and our wider social value initiatives, this accreditation reflects our belief that businesses have a responsibility to create opportunities and make a positive difference in the communities they serve.

Because when we invest in people, everyone benefits.

We’re proud to announce that Safer Roadworks has officially signed the Armed Forces Covenant.

As a business operating across the UK, we recognise the incredible skills, commitment and values that serving personnel, veterans and reservists bring to the workplace. Their leadership, resilience, discipline, teamwork and professionalism are qualities that align perfectly with our own culture and the standards we strive to achieve every day.

By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, we are reaffirming our commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community. We are proud to work alongside the Armed Forces and are committed to providing meaningful employment opportunities for veterans, helping ex-service men and women successfully transition into civilian careers.

The traffic management industry offers an excellent opportunity for former service personnel, and we are passionate about utilising the wealth of skillsets, experience and professionalism they have developed during their military careers. Our aim is to retain that exceptional talent within our industry, providing rewarding long-term careers where those skills can continue to make a real difference.

At Safer Roadworks, we believe those who have served our country deserve every opportunity to build successful careers, and we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where their experience is recognised, valued and rewarded.

We look forward to strengthening our relationship with the Armed Forces community, working with military transition organisations across the UK, and helping more veterans build successful careers within the traffic management industry.

If you’re leaving the Armed Forces or are a veteran looking for your next opportunity, we’d love to hear from you. Please reach out to our team at [email protected].

Yesterday, Safer Roadworks had the privilege of attending the National Highways Incursions Working Group meeting in Birmingham, where we are proud to play our part as members of this important industry forum.

Before the day’s agenda began, we took a moment to reflect on the recent tragic loss of a roadworker. It was a poignant reminder that behind every discussion, innovation and decision is a shared purpose: ensuring that everyone working on or using our road network returns home safely.

The meeting itself was exceptionally well organised, bringing together industry professionals from across the sector for a day packed with valuable learning, practical innovation and open collaboration. It was encouraging to see so many organisations sharing their experiences, different perspectives and ideas, all with a common goal of continually improving safety standards across our industry.

By working together, challenging existing practices and embracing innovation, we can continue to reduce incursions, protect our workforce and the travelling public, and drive meaningful improvements across the UK’s road network.

A sincere thank you to National Highways and everyone involved in delivering such an informative and worthwhile event. We look forward to continuing to support this important work.

Because everyone deserves to get home safely.

Champions On and Off the Pitch - Proud to Support Grassroots Sport Nationwide! ⚽ 🏈

At Safer Roadworks, we are proud to support grassroots sport in the communities where we live, work and operate across the UK.

Grassroots football and rugby play a vital role in shaping young people’s lives - teaching teamwork, discipline, resilience, confidence and respect, while helping to build lifelong friendships and healthier futures. Supporting local clubs, teams and young athletes is an investment in the next generation, both on and off the pitch.

Each year, we select around 15 teams across the country to receive a variety of sponsorship packages within grassroots football and rugby, alongside supporting individual young players on their sporting journeys. Giving back to local communities and helping young people thrive through sport is something we are deeply passionate about.

As the season comes to an end, we would like to congratulate Newport Pagnell Town Football Club Under 9 Lions on an incredible year.

⚽ Season Record ⚽
Played: 24
Won: 22
Drew: 1
Lost: 1
Goals For: 123
Goals Against: 30
Clean Sheets: 9

An outstanding achievement and a true reflection of the dedication, effort and teamwork shown by every player throughout the season. Well done to all involved - players, coaches and parents alike.

This year’s sponsorship was proudly supported jointly with long-term client and company friend, Ryan Anderson, whose continued support for grassroots sport is greatly appreciated.

We look forward to continuing to support local communities and young athletes nationwide for many years to come.

At Safer Roadworks, collaboration isn’t just a value, it’s a commitment we actively invest in.

As we work towards achieving ISO 44001 for Collaborative Business Relationships, we are strengthening the way we partner, communicate, and deliver across our projects. This journey reflects our dedication to building long-term, high-performing relationships that create real value for our clients and stakeholders.

A key part of this progress is our growing partnership with VINCI Group, where we are proud to provide end-to-end traffic management solutions. By working closely together, we are enhancing operational efficiency while maintaining our shared priority: creating safe, compliant, and effective working environments across every scheme.

Whist our senior management teams were out on site visits this week, it was great to see our teams collaborating on-site with Eurovia Specialist Treatments, part of the VINCI Group, demonstrating what strong partnership looks like in action, aligning expertise, resources, and standards to deliver excellence on the ground.

As we continue this journey, we remain focused on driving innovation, strengthening partnerships, and raising standards across the traffic management and wider construction industry.
