Sometimes when I speak to friends/family/go to a networking event and tell people I'm a Virtual Assistant, I get asked, "So, what does a VA actually do?". Fair question - I had no idea before I became one!

Early-on in my VA journey this question used to throw me - I'd go on to waffle a bit (a lot) and massively undersell myself (imposter syndrome alert!). 🙈

Whilst I think the role of a VA is becoming more familiar to people, it can often still be seen as purely admin support. Whilst admin IS a huge part of what many brilliant VAs do (let’s be honest, keeping things organised is a skill in itself!), the role can also be so much more.

For me (and most of the lovely VA community), it’s about being more than just someone who ticks things off the old to-do list. It’s about working alongside our clients - spotting the gaps - noticing something before it becomes a problem. The best VAs become a trusted and integral part of your team!

With the summer holidays/childcare juggling act in full swing ☀️ 🤪 I'm already looking ahead to autumn when I'll have a little more capacity.

OOO this week for a much-needed break with my family (and yes we are skiving from school, and yes I do feel like a naughty school child) 😳🤣 ☀️

Can't believe it's halfway through the year already though 😳

I've had a great few months, supporting some of my lovely clients with (amongst other things) recruitment, onboarding, event planning, and HR. I genuinely love what I do, but it's important to switch off every now and again 😊 🍷 🍹

Let's face it though, a holiday isn't much of a break if you're constantly checking emails and worrying about what's happening back at home...🤔

If you're planning some time away and want to sleep soundly after many cocktails, knowing your inbox and important bits are being looked after, ask me about ad hoc holiday cover. I'll keep an eye on things while you're away, so you can enjoy your well-earned break!

Really excited to partner with What's On In Kent.

I've already had the chance to attend a few of their networking events - networking with a difference - and It's been great meeting such a welcoming group of people. (The idea of networking before honestly used to give my the heebie-jeebies🫣)

Being part of the What's On In Kent community has already opened up a whole load of lovely new connections, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Working for yourself is great, so much flexibility.

For example, today I’m checking emails while spending 2 hours at a trampoline park...

Every half hour they put disco mode on too, which involves flashing lights and loud music - a huge boost for productivity.... Obviously. 🕺💡

Jokes aside, flexibility is something I never take for granted. Being able to work around life (and half-term fun) is a win, even if I'm slowly losing my marbles 😵‍💫 🤣

Jumping on the caricature bandwagon!!

A fairly accurate snapshot of my life: juggling work-life, two lovely (and very energetic) 8 year-old boys, school runs, meetings… powered by a lot of Costa coffees apparently ☕️

PS, If anyone’s found the secret to doing all of that without caffeine, please let me know as I could probably buy a new house with all the lattes I buy 🤣

Really enjoyed attending the Whats On in Kent – Networking with a Difference event on Friday, hosted by the wonderful Hypo Hounds charity. 🐾

Hypo Hounds train dogs to detect and alert to the dangerous changes in their Type 1 Diabetic owner’s blood sugars. It was a pleasure to hear all about their amazing work, and very touching to watch the video 'A Mother’s Anthem' , to better understand the affect type 1 diabetes has on the lives of children and their parents.

Took a break from the laptop today to do some Christmas shopping and make biscuits with my boys (pic of their handy work).

I might be spinning lots of plates as a VA, but the flexibility in my day is something I’m grateful for ☺️
