I had the pleasure of visiting one of Marc Chagall’s master works this weekend: a stained glass series in an unassuming little church in Tudeley, only 10 minutes from Tonbridge. I got to go with my visiting family which was so special. Chagall was only meant to complete one window as part of the commission, but when he visited to install it he loved the church so much he said “it’s magnificent. I will do them all.” And so he did! It’s the only example in the world where he’s done all 12 windows and it took him 15 years to complete. I find it amazing that they’re not all behind a rope in a museum but instead they’re all there for you to get up close and appreciate all his tiny brush details (and for me to appreciate the lead work and joints! Lovely). Highly recommend a visit if you can 😊
