To tie in with Men's Health Week, our MD, Andrew Robbins, was interviewed by The Printing Charity, a charity that helps support people in the industry with their welfare and career development.
Andrew describes one action he takes to support his own well-being:
"Leading a business brings a certain level of responsibility and decision-making, and inevitably, I can find my head gets a bit full at times. Iโve found that getting out, particularly on the trails, helps to create the space to process all of that. Thereโs something about being in the countryside, away from screens and digital noise, that clears my head in a way nothing else quite does."
He also mentions a workplace action that has made a difference:
"One of the most effective things weโve done at Blackmore is simply to encourage colleagues to talk more openly with their managers about how things are going and share the challenges theyโre facing, whether work-related or otherwise.
It sounds very straightforward, but itโs had a noticeable impact on the culture. People are more willing to speak up early if theyโre under pressure or struggling with a workload, which means we can deal with issues before they become bigger problems. It also helps managers and teams understand whatโs really going on, rather than relying on assumptions.
Over time, that openness has contributed to a more supportive working environment where people look out for each other a bit more.
Itโs a simple shift, but itโs made a genuine difference."
