Disconnected lead magnets are a waste of time

- Fancy design
- Crazy hook
- Content is prob free on YT.

Then, miraculously a new subscriber opts in...

(and p**f), you ghost them.

It's such an easy trap to fall into.

(I used to fall into the same trap).

It happens because:

- You spend hours creating the lead magnet
- You spend zero time planning what happens next.

The truth is, your lead magnet is not the problem.

It's the follow-up.

A PDF, Video or Training all work

But without knowing where you're sending them, there is no point.

Because new subscribers go cold.

The lead magnet game can and DOES work really well when it's mapped out from the start.

Here's how I fixed it (and you can too):

1. Map out the journey of the subscriber.
- What problem can I solve right now?

2. Break down that journey into an email sequence
- 7 days, your framework, proof, why you and why now?

3. Send towards an Offer that solves that problem.
- Create a low cost offer that's a no-brainer next step.

Next time you create a lead magnet, start with the end in mind.

PS: Take a swipe at my "write your email sequence in the next 5 days" for inspiration.

Why 95% of your emails aren't converting.

I've analysed thousands of email sequences across multiple funnels. Here's what I found:

5% are ready to buy immediately
45% when nurtured have a higher % of conversion within a month.
50% will never buy.

Of the 45% …

When emailed using a specific framework, conversion of leads increased from 5% to 30-40%.

The moral of the story?

• With the right lead magnet,
• With the right framework email sequence
• With the right CTA

You don’t need more leads, you just need a framework to convert your leads into buyers.

Simple but intentional.

Too many people over complicate email marketing.

They think they need to just keep adding value, value, value.

It’s not about needing “more”, it's about converting what you have.

Next Wednesday I’m sharing this exact framework in my The Email Roadmap to Higher-Ticket Sales Workshop.

I’m going to teach you my exact thinking behind this email framework that shows you:

→ The fastest way to build trust & authority via email.
→ The exact principles you must know before you write your emails.
→ How to structure your email follow up campaign in the right way to maximise for conversions.

The value you'll get will be insane.

The price is only £47 for the first 6 who register (a couple have gone already).

The snoozers will get it at £97.

Which one are you?

The frustrated consultant vs the smart consultant

(take note, this small change will make a big difference)

Let me share a quick story...

My client spent 1.5 hours on a sales call.

I asked "why so long?"
He said "they had so many questions"

👉 He knew this wasn't ideal.
👉 He knew it was draining.
👉 He knew it was unsustainable.

But he was keen and eager to close, so he pushed through.

When he told me this,

I felt his frustration, but I also saw an opportunity.

I asked "did you record the call?"
"Yes" he replied.

"Perfect" now take all those questions that prospect asked you, and answer them in the form of a long form video. This will now act as your "pillar content".

This piece will now be shared before any call happens.

Here's what it does:

✔️ It shortens the time spent on sales calls
✔️ It pre-qualifies the calls he does take.
✔️ It can even remove the need for calls altogether.

This is doing the fundamentals.
Nail this, and you'll never waste time on sales calls again.

Try it out, it works wonders and saves you a tonne of time.

It dawned on me, literally yesterday.

A topic that few talk about (but many think about) came up in a 1-2-1 conversation I had yesterday with George, one of the TOP copywriters in the world.

(He makes $millions just with his writing - such a smart guy).

Anyhow, we got onto the topic of “age” and demographics.

Now, before I carry on, I just want to add that I’ve been in the marketing game for 20+ years, in direct response marketing for 6 years and specifically on LinkedIn for about 2 years.

(yep, the complete opposite to the “bro-marketers” you see on FB in front of their lambos one minute and gone the next.. ughh).

I’ve also run my marketing agency, worked with 100’s of clients and I’ve now pivoted to teach and coach everything I’ve learned.

It’s a natural progression, right?

But society casts a shadow over the later years in life and we can be perceived as too old, whereas in fact we’re at a significant age to embrace doing exactly what we want to do.

You could call it “a better second half”.

And that’s EXACTLY what George and I were talking about.

This is a “hidden” market that no-one is talking about. I’m simply being brutally honest.

Now that I’m older (maybe I’ll share my age in another email) without realising it I’ve embraced my own better second half!

Most people who are 50+ have already worked for 30 years of their life and are at a point now where the kids are grown up and doing their own thing and now it’s “their” time to do their own thing.

And share their wisdom with the world building a lifestyle business they’ve always dreamed of.

- You know you’ve got expertise
- You know you’ve got the knowledge
- You know you’ve got the skills

But you don’t yet know how to do this by yourself?

Or, maybe you’ve tried and haven’t got the traction you’ve wanted?

So let me ask you this - are you ready to grab your “better second half” by the hands and create your part-time lifestyle business doing EXACTLY what you want to do?

If you’re ready to do just this - join me for my LinkedIn Masterclass this Thursday and I’ll show you exactly how you can do it!

I want to share a story about one of my clients, Tim.

When Tim came to me, he'd been struggling to get his coaching business off the ground.

Imagine how terrified he was to invest in support?

His main income was from his seasonal business, and he wanted to switch it to a more stable coaching business.

It was a risk for him, as our initial conversation (one year prior) was that he was going to go it alone.

A year later when I caught up with him nothing had changed.

He was no further forward, partially because he was too focused on the process.

But this time was different. He came to the realisation he couldn't do this on his own. He knew he needed the support as he was over complicating everything.

Turns out it was his best decision.

He works in the hospitality sector and his goal is to get into Michelin star pubs and restaurants.

I was able to shift his thinking (and his language) to become more benefit driven.

Less complexity

More simplicity

And the result is he now has a client at one of Tom Kerridge's Michelin star restaurants
..and has an inbound enquiry from one of Heston Blumenthal's Michelin star restaurants.

He's no longer stuck trying to go alone and figure it out.

Instead he has clarity and is now working strategically with his goals in easy reach.

Now he's celebrating himself!

If you'd like to know the strategy I took him through to achieve this, I'm sharing it on my free LinkedIn Masterclass next Thursday.

My good friend is about to launch his first brand new book this autumn.

I couldn’t be more excited for him, as I know how it feels to launch a brand new book.

His book is about systemising your business - specifically around sales and marketing.

He is a genius at automating and systemising so I know it will be a corker.

But we had a conversation yesterday and he showed me the front cover of his new book because he wanted genuine feedback.

I LOVED the colours (think lemons and limes) but I didn’t love the message - and I told him.

“Putting the fizz back into your sales and marketing” urghhh. That’s wallpaper.

And even worse, he’s not positioning himself with this statement. It’s “same, same” or as copythinkers say “yes, yes” meaning “yes, I’ve heard that before”.

Thankfully he took it in the spirit it was intended, and he’ll rethink it.

You see unknowingly he’s fallen into the trap that many entrepreneurs fall into… despite his enormous skills, he’s not connected the strapline to his unique mechanism (what makes him different).

He’s too close to it.

Most people fall into the same trap about their message too.

And when your message is off - you’ll lose attention. No attention = no sales.

Running your dream business should be straightforward with the right message and positioning.

And in case you’re wondering, your dream business DOES EXIST.

You just need the right path to create it.

That’s what we do in my Market Aim Launch programme, and that’s what I’ll show you in my upcoming LinkedIn Masterclass next week (5th Sept).

It’s FREE, it will be fun and you’re going to learn how to build the business you really dream of.

So … join me while registration is open (and before we fill all the slots).

I'm writing this post to you now as the result of an idea I had literally last week.

I've recently joined a copywriting community which is blowing my socks off by the way - and I feel like I've learned so much I want to share with my community (you) so that you can benefit too.

OK, I'll be real for a minute...

Yes, the copywriting is great, but there's something else too.

Something that I hear again and again.

And it's this vicious 3-step circle.

- You want to grow your business
- But you can't invest because you're not making enough in your business to invest.
- And people are not investing in you because you're not "selling" to your market so you're not making enough sales.

See how this goes? It becomes a stalemate.

Now let's pivot a minute and talk a bit about LinkedIn.

Your prospects are on LinkedIn - for SURE!

But you're not. Well you are... but don't really know what you're doing there to make it work for you.

In fact there are probably 5 Reasons why you're not converting your contacts to clients on LinkedIn.

The very first problem that experts like you come up against is lack of time. Time and effort to grow your connections on LinkedIn.

1. "I don't know how to find my prospects"
2. What should I really say?

The second problem you come up against is not wanting to be spammy (which stops you from doing anything at all).

1. "I get spammy DM's every day"
2. I don't want to be the same

The third problem you come up against is lack of authority based content

1. I'm posting, but run out of ideas
2. I'm getting a lot of no's.

The fourth problem you come up against is your message is off.

1. People still ask me what I do.
2. Why is it not obvious?

The fifth problem you come up against is you're not selling to your prospects.

1. "There's a link to enquire on my website".
2. "If people are interested, they'll get in touch".

Back to my original point at the beginning of this email...

In 2022 I had to pivot my business because LinkedIn wasn't working so well for me too. Why? Because the market has changed a lot.

Sending DM's used to work like a dream for me, then everything stopped working.

I had to figure out a different way to fix this problem.

And the good news is I did.

It took a lot testing and now not only am I using this system to work for me, I'm also working with my clients to help them implement it in their business.

Take a look at this testimonial I got today from my first session with a new client, Alex (it's also on my LinkedIn recommendations).

"Alison is the go-to person for hands-on practical advice for launching your business online. Through her insightful questions I was able firm up my business ideas and update my profile to align with what I wanted to accomplish. She helped me get the clarity I needed to move forward"

So for you my friends next Thursday 1st August at 2.00pm UK time I'm hosting a FREE Masterclass Convert Contacts to Clients.

I'm going to show you exactly how I've pivoted since the market has changed (it's changed a lot), and how I now convert contacts to clients using LinkedIn.

So you can do the same.

On LinkedIn but not getting quality leads?

13/06/2024

I started to take LinkedIn seriously in 2020, but more so in 2022.

I began to follow top creators, and watch what they were doing, but I got conflicting advice which confused the hell out of me.

- People boasted about how many followers they had - should I chase followers?.
- People bragged about engagement and comments - how d’you do that?

Needing to build a massive following is a myth. Most people don’t want to be influencers, most people simply want new clients.

Which means you’ve got to have the right strategy for LinkedIn to work for you.

- To attract new leads, means you have to create targeted content.
- To attract more qualified leads, you have to create targeted content.

So how do you do this? Glad you asked.

Your content matters now more than ever. Posting on LinkedIn works, when you post strategically and not “Here’s something I found interesting…”

Now I know this - I can’t unsee it. I guarantee you’ll be the same.

Next week I’ll be sharing exactly how to do this because trust me - everything you say matters.

Day 1 (Monday 17th) - How to fix your message to market
Day 2 (Tuesday 18th) - Why positioning is everything, and how to position yourself and your offer.
Day 3 (Wednesday 19th) - (LinkedIn) Creating content that converts
Day 4 (Thursday 20th) - How to set up your sales system
Day 5 (Friday 21st) - In depth case study with results.

Each day we’ll start at 12noon (BST) and aim to run for an hour.

When you register, you’ll get a zoom link to join each session.

Plus Bonus sessions…

- Break down live in real time of a LinkedIn profile
- How to build relationships with targeted messaging using the DM’s on LinkedIn.

What a great week it’s going to be.

I've failed at launching many times in the past.

But I didn't give up, I kept going.

Ignoring doing launches means

-- Way less people get to know who you are
-- Even less people know anything about your offer.
-- You're stopping yourself from getting in front of more people

If you're not actively launching your offer, you're leaving money on the table.

I get it, launching isn't "cushy".

But growth doesn't happen when you're cushy and comfortable.
And more cash in the bank doesn't happen waiting for people to find you.

Here's the reality...

-- Launching can seem overwhelming
-- The first time is always the hardest, it gets easier after this.
-- When you do it once, you're setting your benchmark for the next.

And guess what - it works! I know, I've seen it.

If it didn't, why would the big boys do it all the time? In fact they're doing it under our noses, but no one flinches:

-- Tesla electric cars
-- Apple (iPhone) upgrades
-- Peloton (new get fit gadgets)

You can completely reinvent your brand and your business on your terms.

-- It doesn't cost the earth.
-- You can start small and slowly build.
-- You don't have to run Ads to get started

All you need to get started is:

-- Knowing your target market
-- A great offer that solves a problem
-- A system to capture and measure data

Ready to get started with this? I'm opening up my Market Aim Launch programme in the next few days, but if you want early bird access, DM me "LAUNCH" and I'll send you the details.
