Brew & Q is our relaxed online catch-up for creative business owners. Grab a cuppa, bring your questions, and spend time with other makers, designers, and tutors who truly understand the ups and downs of running a creative business.

Some weeks we chat marketing, pricing, websites, and selling. Other weeks it turns into problem solving, sharing wins, showing what we’re working on, or simply having a laugh together while keeping each other motivated.

There’s no pressure, no formal teaching, and no need to “have it all figured out.” It’s a supportive space to network, ask questions, swap ideas, and stay connected with people who get it.

So… off we went, Belinda in her new outfit (looking the part, obviously), heading to a networking event…

This one was organised by Clare (my accountant… who clearly has hidden talents beyond spreadsheets 👀), and we already knew Debz would be there, so we were really looking forward to it.

And then we walked into a room full of brilliant women doing their thing.

Now here’s the bit I loved…

Watching Belinda and Debz realise just how far they’ve actually come.

Not that long ago, both of them would’ve felt completely out of their depth in a room like that. The kind where you quietly hope no one asks you what you do 😅

But this time?

Talking about their businesses came easily. Naturally. No overthinking, no second guessing.

Just… owning it.

And that’s the shift, isn’t it.

Because when you’re genuinely passionate about what you create, it’s a lot easier to talk about than you think… once you stop getting in your own way.

Of course, there was plenty of food, non-alcoholic drinks (we do know how to behave… mostly), and a good dose of laughs thrown in for good measure.

And Debz… well… she did her trademark Vogue posing for the camera…

So naturally I joined in.

Let’s just say… she was giving Vogue…

And I was giving full-on Benny Hill 😂

Safe to say, we balanced each other out perfectly.

And to round it all off, the three of us ended up back at the bar, having a proper catch-up before heading home… slightly tired, very chatty, and already planning what’s next.

Which, as it turns out…

Is us.

We’ve decided we’re going to start putting on our own networking events around the country for creative business owners.

Because honestly? More of this is needed.

Real conversations. Real businesses. Real people who just get it.

And maybe… just maybe… a muffin stop along the way 😉

Today’s Brew & Q might have been a smaller group than usual, but honestly, those are often the best ones.

We split into two breakout rooms, then came back as a group to chat about future in-person events… which we’re all quite excited about 👀

Debz shared her brand new packaging and marketing labels, and they are looking really strong now, properly getting her business sh* t together.

And of course, Belinda and I couldn’t help but share a bit about our recent trip to Tewkesbury and Stourbridge… which turned into slightly more than your average “networking trip” with a Bit Of Lemon On The Side. 🤣

This is what I love about these sessions…
It’s not just about business.
It’s about connection, confidence, and actually feeling like you’re not doing this on your own.

Well… what started as “just heading to a networking event” turned into a full-on day out 😂

We kicked things off in Belinda’s studio getting a bit of work done (you know… to make it look like we’re sensible business owners).

Then it was time to pack the car and head out… obviously stopping first for a muffin and cappuccino because priorities matter.

A quick look at glasses frames turned into a full trying-on session. You know the kind, where you’re chasing “wow” and somehow try on everything in the shop.

Then onto clothes shopping so Belinda could feel properly glam… which she absolutely did by the way.

I, on the other hand, tried on a hat… briefly considered a new life… and then remembered we actually had somewhere to be 😅

Cue the mad dash to make our appointment on time before finally setting off.

And that was just the beginning…

Just a quick heads up for you all 👀

I’ve received this email saying my Haberdashery UK account is eligible for a blue tick… sounds exciting, right?

It’s not. It’s spam.

There are a few tell-tale signs:
– It’s come from a random Gmail address
– It’s asking me to click a Google Forms link
– The wording is vague and generic

If Facebook (Meta) want to verify your account, they’ll do it inside your account settings, not via an email like this.

Please be careful what you click on, especially when it looks like a “good opportunity”.

If in doubt, don’t click it.

Be business savvy. :D 👍

Yesterday’s live shopping event was a success! 🎉
I’d had a couple of weeks’ break from doing them, so everyone was on form and ready to shop.

Today’s plan: get all the orders shipped out nice and early, then hop on a Zoom with my Facebook group members for a bit of networking (and a few bits of advice when asked 😉).

Fridays are my half days, I finish up around midday so I can meet my husband, do the weekly shop, chop wood, and enjoy a well-deserved rest.

Balance, right? ⚖️

After a much-needed break yesterday babysitting my grandson 👶, my eyes have had a chance to heal — and I’m back at it today!

Task of the day: putting the finishing touches on Part 2 — Email Marketing.

You can’t have funnel training without covering the emails that go with it. They’re what keep the whole thing flowing — like the conversation that continues after someone’s visited your shop.

So, back to the grindstone.
(No, really — I do love creating these… I just wish it wasn’t such a hard slog sometimes! 😅)
