I'm the sole director of Advantage VAT Services Limited, forming the company after nearly 32 years with HMRC and its predecessor H.M Customs & Excise, I've gained a wealth of experience, primarily in the VAT Assurance of SME businesses with turnovers up to £30,000,000 per year. ion mechanism. My SME VAT casework presented many challenges often encountering complex casework whilst managing a multi business caseload. My tax assessments and decisions have stood up to the most vigorous scrutiny whilst at the same time I've often received thanks from business owners for my customer focused approach and proactive mindset. Other roles have included that of a VAT Enquiries officer, supervising a team of Enquiries staff, an International Trade officer reviewing business utilisation of trade facilitation regimes and review of frequent exporters and importers. My investigation roles have included the tackling of Missing Trader Intra Community fraud or Carousel fraud and as a member of a Civil Penalties Investigation team. Prior to full time employment I obtained an FCA in Accountancy from the now Sheffield Hallam University. In the current year I acquired a qualifiation in Businss Start Ups. I enjoy problem solving and one of my favourite diversions in downtime is enjoying the 'Killer' variant of Sudoku.
