"I have known of Intelligent Horsemansnip for many years and attended a Monty and Kelly session.

I contacted IH Trainer Kathy as my pony needs more confidence in new places. I've had a 10 year gap of riding and I needed some help to be less anxious as I was feeling very rusty.

Our first session was long lining in the round pen. A new one for me and the pony but enlightening. Next session was a hack out - this was perfect and I felt relaxed and happy returning to Kathy's yard. Her horse is lovely and we chatted like old friends. Kathy explains everything in an easy friendly manner. I drove home buzzing!

I would absolutely recommend Intelligent Horsemanship and Kathy! It is another level in horses and when you are old school competition brigade like me, IH methods are an eye opener

I have found an inspiring, calm mentor in Kathy and couldn't be more satisfied with the service and help.

I am an older rider (61 yrs) and need to get my old confidence back. Only this time with a deeper understanding and bond with my horse. I have another hack out booked for next Friday with my little mare.

It's hard as my ponies are at home, so I don't have anyone to ride with. Riding without worry is a goal which I now see is achievable.

Now I have a trailer I am determined to have a great year with my pony."

Where did your love for horses begin ?

For me it was as soon as I was born ,so I suppose you could say it’s in my blood .

How things have changed over the years and I wish I knew back then what I know now ,
My journey through pony club and the BHS but my lightbulb moment was going to a Monty Roberts demo in 2001 and seeing how horses communicate with us ,
I joined Kelly Marks and Intelligent Horsemanship and went on my first course may of 2004 ,
I went through those gates at Hartsop Farm Witney, Ian Vandenberghe
And I have been on the best journey of learning ever since,

I am so lucky to have horses in my life and be able to work and learn every day .

I don’t do much clipping work now a days as I just don’t have time but when a friend got in touch as their pony is getting really warm and really itchy with the change in the weather .

He looks like a new pony and I’m sure jet was really happy with his new hair cut 🥰.

A bonus I got to give cuddles to the highland cows and say hello to their new additions ❤️.

Long lining ( reining ) is so good for being connected to your horse from the ground and great for watching how they are moving,
Here is my granddaughter showing how easy it is to do for all ages 🤩

Wow what a weekend I had at the horses inside out conference .
I was surrounded by some of the best in the field of the equine industry.
Lots of research being done and evidence being shared.
I’m still processing all the information.
I do these cpd weekends so that am always update with what I have to share with you all as you know our horses deserve the best from us each day 🥰.

Well it’s the years of the horse ,

what adventures have you planned for this years and looking forward to doing ,

Last year I worked really slow with my boyo after his awful injury from the year before but this year we are booked to join everyone at the annual fun camp at somerford and looking forward to more pleasure ride and going to join in on some pole clinics ,
I’m looking forward to doing more learning and doing fun things with the intelligent horsemanship team
I’m at going to the inside out 3 day conference run by Gillian this year it’s all about soundness and symmetry,
If you are a member of intelligent horsemanship there is some great webinars coming up this year and they are free for members.
I’m just sorting dates for more clinics with me at Barlow lees ,

Here’s to lots of fun and adventures with our fours legged best friends in 2026

We need to listen to what our horses are telling us .
It is a honour they allow us to be in their company and put bridles on the heads and saddles on their backs and then expect them to do what ever our passion is to to with tell .
so we must do our best for them .
Horses teach us so much if we just observe and listen.
Keep everything simple and when you are lucky enough to get that conversation and understanding with your horse 🐎 I think you are the luckiest person ever.
