Our advisor, Rob King, had a great time talking with young people about starting a business.

There were lots of questions and ideas about what it takes to get started, and the support available in Sheffield. It was great to see everyone getting involved and sharing their thoughts.

Thank you to Sheffield United Community Foundation for organising the session, and to everyone who took part.

Sheffield’s tech ecosystem is getting global recognition!

Our city has been named the UK’s #1 Rising Star in the 2026 Global Tech Ecosystem Index by Dealroom.co. It is also ranked #77 globally in the Rising Stars ranking, performing better than 77% of cities measured, and #1 in the UK.

This is a big moment for Sheffield and South Yorkshire. It shows how fast our tech sector is growing and highlights the innovation, talent and businesses across our region.

From startups and scaleups to universities, tech hubs and business communities, more organisations are helping people turn ideas into real businesses and grow them here in South Yorkshire.

It is not just Sheffield. Earlier this year, Barnsley was named the UK’s first Tech Town, showing the strength of the wider regional tech scene.

It is great to see cities like ours getting national and global recognition for innovation and business growth.

We are proud to support tech startups on this journey and excited to see what comes next for Sheffield and South Yorkshire.
