This Halloween, it might not be vampires, demons or skeletons in your cupboard giving you a fright. The real horror could be lurking in your drawers, gathering dust in your garage or lying forgotten in the cellar… 🕸️

Cables tangled into electrical cobwebs. Ancient gadgets sucking up space faster than Nosferatu at a blood bank. Mummified tech that hasn’t seen daylight since Windows 98. And somewhere beneath it all… a charger for a phone nobody remembers owning. 🧛‍♂️🔌

Sound frighteningly familiar? Welcome to your very own DRAWER OF DEMONS 😱

Go on - give those cupboards an exorcism, lift the curse on your clutter and banish that eerie collection to Aspire Sheffield! ♻️

We’ll help lay your unwanted electrical bits and bobs to rest through responsible recycling, with suitable items given a chance at a second life. Because a little resurrection isn’t always a bad thing… 🧟‍♂️💚

And every clear-out helps support our charity’s work, creating work experience and opportunities for people who face barriers to employment. A frighteningly good reason to get involved!

🕷️ Planning to bring your haunted hoard?

Our winter public recycling drop-off hours are Thursday and Friday, 9am–4pm, with a lunch closure from 12 noon–1pm. We’re closed on bank holidays and over Christmas.

As the clocks go back, our public recycling drop-off hours change too. If you’re clearing out those drawers, cupboards and garages in time for the festive season, then here’s when to bring your unwanted electrical bits and bobs to Aspire Sheffield!

🍂 YOUR WINTER RECYCLING QUESTIONS ANSWERED 🍂

❓ Why do we have a winter timetable?

November through to February are our busiest months for collecting donated equipment from businesses. With just 34 working days between 1st November and our Christmas closedown, our small team spends more time out on collections, leaving fewer people on site to receive public donations.

Limiting public drop-offs to Thursdays and Fridays helps us manage both demands and have staff available to welcome you at least two day in the week.

❓ What if I turn up on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday?

We’ll never turn you away if someone is available to help! However, our team may be out on collections or working elsewhere, so there might not be anyone around to receive your items. Please aim for Thursday or Friday.

❓ Is there suitable lighting when the car park gets dark?

Yes, the centre has appropriate lighting, although we recommend visiting while there’s sufficient daylight wherever possible. It makes unloading and moving around easier and safer for everyone.

❓ Can I drop things off while you’re closed?

Please only bring items when a team member is available to receive them. NEVER leave electrical equipment outside unattended and hand it over to us so we can deal with it properly. Especially items containing data!

🔌♻️ BITS, BOBS & THINGS WITH K***S! ♻️🔌

Odds and sods, gubbins, knick-knacks, oddments, gadgets, bric-a-brac, paraphernalia, sundries, scrap and junk!

Whatever you call your old electrical and electronic bits and bobs, they have a habit of taking over. A drawer becomes a cupboard… the cupboard spills into the loft… and before you know it, the garage is a museum of forgotten gadgets! 😂

Sound familiar? Give yourself some space back! Bring your unwanted electrical clutter to Aspire Sheffield and we’ll recycle it for you. Those dusty cables, retired routers, old chargers and forgotten gadgets can finally stop gathering dust and start doing some good. 💚

🌹⚽ Proud to sponsor Ecclesfield Red Rose Junior Football Club! ⚽🌹

We like to keep our ear to the ground for opportunities to support people across Sheffield. So when Ecclesfield Red Rose, just a stone’s throw from our base, approached us about sponsoring the team for the next two years, we were delighted to say yes.

At Aspire Sheffield, we see every day what an opportunity can do for a young person. Our work gives people facing barriers to employment the chance to build skills, confidence and friendships through real work experience. A football club can offer young people those same precious things: a place to belong, teammates who look out for one another, and the confidence to keep growing.

This sponsorship feels especially close to home. Through our team, trainees, supporters, donors and customers, we have so many connections across our local community. It’s a pleasure to back a local club that gives its young players the chance to enjoy the game and thrive together. ❤️

🔧✨ Expanding horizons, learning new skills and stepping outside our comfort zones! ✨🔧

Some of our newer trainees, alongside existing members of the Aspire team, recently decided to take on a completely new challenge: learning the basics of micro soldering and PCB repair. 🖥️🔬⚡

To make sure everyone had the right guidance, we teamed up with FoneFunShop, where Mike, their Senior Technical Manager, designed and delivered a fantastic hands-on training course tailored perfectly to our team. 👏

It proved to be an incredibly successful, enjoyable and rewarding experience for everyone involved. Our trainees gained confidence, our team broadened their technical skills, and even our time-served electronics engineer came away having picked up a few new tricks! 😄🛠️

There was plenty of concentration, plenty of learning and, naturally, plenty of fun!

A brilliant example of what can happen when people are given the opportunity to try something new, challenge themselves and learn together. 💚

🌟 What an absolute joy it is working with the brilliant team at Club 61! 💙

Club 61 provides specialised day care and support for men with learning disabilities, focusing on community-based outings, participation in local groups, and a range of social, recreational, and physical activities such as team sports and tennis challenges. 🎾⚽ With a strong emphasis on inclusion, personal development and meaningful community engagement, the organisation takes a person-centred approach that meets recognised care standards and helps the men they support lead active, fulfilling lives. 🙌

💡 A little while ago they approached us with a fantastic idea - to create a real-life, work-based workshop full of meaningful activities for the guys. From that conversation… the Wednesday Workshop was born, and it’s been one of the most socially rewarding projects we’ve been part of. 💚

🛠️ We set them up with the tools, instructions, and material they needed, and every Wednesday the lads get stuck into proper recycling jobs: carefully recovering PCBs from old routers and switches, unpacking and preparing items for recycling, and skilfully recovering wire by cutting the gold edge connectors from ethernet cables. ♻️🔌

Not only does this give everyone valuable hands-on work experience, but the sense of achievement when a job is finished is pure magic. ✨ And can we just say… these guys are amazingly fast! ⚡ Watching them work with such focus, pride and teamwork never fails to put a huge smile on our faces. 😊

👏 Huge thanks to Club 61 for trusting us with this, and an even bigger shout-out to all the lads who make every Wednesday so special. You’re an inspiration! 🌟
