I love it when a plan comes together!

My client wanted help to get their home ready for market, they wanted hints and tips to make the space look the very best it could.
To be honest the house is beautiful, it needed a little attention to make the rooms shine at their very best, for the buyers to see its dimensions and to imagine their own belongings there.

My client was salsa really thinking about what they wanted to move with, they are not taking things that no longer serve them, that they don’t love, so bit by bit we have removed these items and donated to charity. There is no need to pay for removals to move things you don’t need.

And proof in the process is the SOLD sign.
My client will be onto pastures new very soon!

Absolutely!
Having a home you live and feel happy in , is what it’s all about, and this little cushion has put a smile on my face.

I love boxes, they keep food fresh , come in different sizes , stack to save space and you can see what you’ve got so no double buying which saves money.
I advise my clients to keep the food in the original packaging in the Sistema box, that way you know when it expires, you’re not topping up new food onto old food, where that old flour sits for months sometimes years!
I do understand decanting looks beautiful, but I’m not sure it’s practical for most homes.
If you do decant , think about…
Where do I keep the back-stock?
Will a whole packet fit in that container ?
Am I filling new product into old? And how many top ups has that old product had on it?
Do you know the use by/expiry dates on what’s in there?
There are items you know you use ALL the time that can be decanted , for me are tea bags,,,, I have a system which ensures I use the old ones first and there’s no backstock looking for space, and chocolate rice cakes, because I can easily take out the bottom ones and put in the new and top up with the older ones that need eating first.
This client can see her grains and can see when she needs to buy them again, no cooking with old ingredients that are past their best.

This has become a tradition.
Exam flapjacks.
When my daughter was about to sit her GCSE’s she had a chat with a teacher from her middle school.
He had inspired her to carry on studying the subject he taught, philosophy, religion and ethics.
He gave her the tip to eat a flapjack before each exam, as the sugar will give you a boost, the oats keep you going for longer and they’re yum!
So since then I’ve baked Exam Flapjacks.
Here they are , the first batch ready for Ben.
Good luck to all the year 11’s starting your exams, remember, they don’t define who you are, they don’t show your personality, your quirks, your passions outside of school or your dreams!
It’s a moment, and soon it will be over.
Do your best and eat a flapjack!

The elephant in the room….
In the shape of a box of newspapers.
I started working with my client nearly a year ago.
We’ve been tackling historical paperwork, we’ve been making a filing system that works, and space to keep sewing projects.
Together we’ve done really well,
This box of papers were questioned, but my client wanted to leave them, we talked about how it would feel to let them go,
That feeling was anxious.
We talked about why they were keeping them, we talked about how they’d just become part of the room.
Then there was a shift, they didn’t want these papers to be part of the room, part of their space that we were creating.
Together we took steps to look through them, some were kept for a reason, for most that reason had been forgotten, “Jane, why have I kept all of this?”
Slowly now they’re being let go of, not being tipped straight in the bin, because then it would appear they weren’t cared about, but they were. Carefully and methodically. This box of papers will not remain part of the furniture.
It doesn’t have to be all done in a day, and I couldn’t be prouder of the steps my client is taking.

Many people don’t want more ‘stuff’ for their birthdays or special occasions.
More things to find a home for,
More things to clean around,
More things to look after.
