REMINDER - Antique Tool Fair / Dealer Day TOMORROW

Just a friendly reminder that our Tool Fair is taking place TOMORROW, Wednesday 3rd June at Stordon Grange, starting from 8am.

Over 20 stall holders will be set up with a wide range of usable, collectable and antique tools — you'll also be able to preview the full 1006-lot auction taking place the next day.

We will NOT be serving food, but hot and cold drinks will be available free of charge.

Entry and parking is free.

The auction will take place on Thursday 4th June starting at 9:30am GMT prompt.
No customers will be allowed in the auction room on the sale day.
Live internet bidding, absentee and telephone bidding only.

This is an important 17/18c European iron plane 11" x 2" with the sole fixed with small dovetails and unusually decorative sides and bridge.

Other interesting features upturned extended toe and curled grip.

This plane is illustrated in David R. Russell; 2010 Antique Woodworking Tools from the Earliest Times to the Twentieth Century. (fig 797)

This unique SPIERS dovetailed steel mitre plane (16½" x 3¼") features beautifully figured rosewood infill and handle, complete with a Ward snecked iron. Illustrated in David Russell’s Antique Woodworking Tools (Fig. 1329), it represents the very finest level of 19th-century plane making.

Founded in the 1840s, SPIERS of Ayr set the standard for infill planes, prized by cabinetmakers and collectors alike. This remarkable example was likely a special order, making it possibly one of a kind.
