"What pupils are learning and how well they are learning should be the principle focus of everyone who works in a school. Schools are first and foremost places of learning so then they are places that transform lives.... every pupil's life should become better than if they had not gone to school "
Bruce Robertson, The Teaching Delusion.

Yes, sorry everyone. I AM reading another book!

Why anyone ever supposed that a number can accurately describe anyone’s aptitude to learn is beyond me! Also beyond me is why there is such misunderstanding around “mock” results and predicted grades .

Properly used, mock results inform teachers and students what needs yet to be learned in the remaining time available. What and how they both respond to that information might well indicate how well they might do in the final exam, but it can only ever be an approximation, not a concrete and reliable fact !!!
