virtualPMO are proud to announce they have been selected to help manage a major change with Blind Veterans UK, the UKs premier organisation that offers lifelong support to Armed Forces and National Service veterans.

On 14 Dec 21, Blind Veterans UK announced that they had agreed and exchanged contracts that will see them move into Princess Marina House (PMH) in Rustington, West Sussex. The building, bought from the RAF Benevolent Fund, will be Blind Veterans UK’s new south coast home when they move from their iconic, but now unsuitable, centre in Ovingdean, East Sussex.

Faced with such a major change, virtualPMO are delighted to offer our expertise and assistance with the challenges faced by moving Blind Veterans UK from a site they have previously occupied for 83 years into a brand-new location. virtualPMO is part-veteran owned and are signatories to the UK Ministry of Defence’s Armed Forces Covenant so are a great fit for a challenge of this scale.

Client Director for virtualPMO, Jim Boyden said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to help manage the site move for Blind Veterans UK. The challenge of moving staff and residents is huge. While it may only be a distance of 22 miles, the bespoke nature of the care Blind Veterans UK provides to our county’s veterans means that not only must residential and medical support services be moved, but the support offered must continue seamlessly while the move is going on - it’s a challenge the entire virtualPMO Team will relish.”

virtualPMO will be working alongside the management team from Blind Veterans UK to ensure that the move keeps to a strict budget and timeframe as well as identifying and maximising the opportunities that will come from such a major change.

While the consultants of virtualPMO could be described as star quality, it’s incredibly exciting that we have been selected to feature in the next series of The Crown – sadly, this is more commonly known in full as “the Crown Commercial Service Suppliers list”.

It’s fantastic to know that we have been judged professional and diligent enough to supply services to the Public Sector through the DOS 5 framework. We aim to provide customers with easily manageable capability, fully tailored to their requirements with the practical approach we pride ourselves on.

This week, virtualPMO remembers those who went before us. Sometimes it's hard to relate to the sepia tinted photos and imposing war memorials and make the connection to the flesh and blood relatives we know, so here is one of millions of human stories.

W175288 Peggy Wynne-Ellis, The Royal Corps of Signals, was married to FX115024 Charles "Chuck" Wynne-Ellis, Fleet Air Arm Royal Navy. Chuck served onboard HMS ANSON as a Petty Officer (Airman) on the Arctic Convoys and was awarded the Arctic Star. Peggy served with the Royal Signals in Waltham Cross.

Tragically, while both survived the war, Chuck died in a freak fishing accident in 1948, leaving Peggy to bring up 2 children on her own, in a post war world. Their sacrifices and their efforts are not forgotten.

While we're only small at the moment, we hope to share the very best values of our Nation's Armed Forces with the Business world - leadership, tenacity, robustness and good grace and humour under pressure. I was idly cooking breakfast this morning, when the wonderful smell of frying bacon triggered a long forgotten olfactory memory buried deep in the old memory bank. It suddenly reminded me of the importance of treating people right in the working world.
Suddenly, it’s the early 00’s, I’m young again, and I’m back serving on a British Army Bomb Disposal Team in Belfast. I’m, what, nineteen? Twenty? It’s the height of silly season...
