Today we removed a large but dangerous Beech Tree on common ground for Uckfield Town Council. The tree had been pollarded some 200 years ago. The re growth from this pollard point had become structurally un-sound and there was extensive bracket fungus at the base. The tree was near a very busy footpath and the rear gardens of private dwellings.

We used a telehandler and cage to remove some sections of the tree as it was unsafe to climb, other sections were pulled with a winch on one of our tracked chippers.

We were able the stack the larger timber on site to make a wild life habitat and left the last bit of stump standing hopefully the provide a food source for wood peckers and a bat roost.

We have just removed 45 Conifer roots ranging between 450mm and 650mm. It’s was a straight run but all of the roots were gone in under three hours. We used one of our Cartlton machines which is remote control. This is a high power narrow access machine.

Busy and successful Sussex based Tree Surgery company are looking to recruit a flexible climber/groundsperson who is willing to work within tight teams and will be able to undertake a mix of Arboricultural work with some landscaping works. The successful applicant will need to be self-motivated and reliable. Own transport will be required to get to business yard.

Required Experience

Minimum 1 years industry experience required (preferably at least 2 years experience)
Essential Qualifications

NPTC Units up to and including 39
First Aid training
Full clean driving licence
Preferable Qualifications

Stump-grinding & Chipper NPTC certificates
This is a full time position.

Full PPE provided
PAYE package included, with 20 days and bank holidays off
Rate of pay dependant on experience

Shoreham RFC went on tour to Portsmouth with new kit supplied by Sussex Tree Surgeons. The team played 12 matches and won 10 out of the twelve. The boys played brilliantly against some hard opponents. Great fun for all involved with rugby, fun and games, swimming and BBQ's.

We stayed at the brilliant Bunn Lesuire Resort in Selsey.

A great weekend was had by all. Well done boys, coaches and parents.

An early 4 am start to get started in the Holmbush centre flagship Tesco store. We have been pruning and removing the dead wood from all of the trees in the main car park. After 9 am the car park is full so we have been working nights and early morning to beat the rush.

Pictures of a garden make over undertaken recently.

The old paving slabs were removed. New Indian sand-stone was laid and new grade A turfs to make a new lawn were used.

The project took one week and now the garden is in full use for the summer!
