Sam was out today in a Cumbria Amphibian and Reptile Group (CARG) role helping the good folks at Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel identify the snakes which had been seen in the grounds. It was lovely to find this juvenile grass snake utilising the fantastic hotel gardens.

We're very lucky to have some good populations of natterjack toads here in Cumbria. We've been surveying known natterjack populations and looking wider afield for 'new' populations this week. It doesn't get much better than searching for natterjacks in the sun!
