• What's your role at Denmaur, and what does a typical day look like?
I’m the Marketing and Sustainability Director at Denmaur. A typical day starts early and finishes late. In between is a whirlwind of phone calls, countless e-mails, back-to-back meetings, plenty of reading and editing, mile after mile of motorway driving, but still finding time for creativity. I couldn’t do it without the support of those I work with, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
• Who would play you in "Denmaur: The Movie"?
Larry David. Only because life seems to have become one continuous episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. I can identify with the intensity of his character, but also his eagerness to find humour in the most mundane of things.
• What's one thing you wish more people knew about paper or print?
It’s the most sustainable, purposeful product in the world. Use it, re-use it and recycle it.
• What's your favourite piece of print you've ever seen or owned?
I have the privilege of owning an original 1966 World Cup final programme. Not for recycling!
• What's your favourite Denmaur product or service?
Hard to choose, but it must be any of our Revive or Delipac grades in terms of products and Carbon Balancing in terms of a service.
• If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you take?
Assuming a boat isn’t allowed….
1. An endless supply of Denmaur A4 pads, along with a fine ballpoint pen and plenty of refills. Needed for composing my memoirs along with a host of other creative urges that would undoubtedly follow.
2. My collection of hardback political biographies. Gathered over many years but, embarrassingly, still waiting to be read. Perhaps they could double up as legs for a makeshift table.
3. My wife. I'd miss being told what to do.
• Which Denmaur product or service do you recommend most often, and why?
Carbon Balancing. As David Attenborough says, “The money that is given to the World Land Trust has more effect on the wild world than almost anything I can think of.”
• What's the best concert or live event you've ever been to?
Frankie Beverly and Maze at Wembley, mid-late 1980s.
• What's the best piece of advice you've received during your career?
You have 2 ears, 2 eyes and 1 mouth. Use them in that order. Attributed to Darryl Romm c. 1992.
• You've got one final meal – what's on the menu?
Assuming it’s a planned ex*****on and my obvious innocence notwithstanding, it has to be large skinless cod and chips (from Aquarius in Ruislip Manor), doused in vinegared-down ketchup and topped with a generous covering of Tellicherry black pepper. Of course, I'd take the meal in a 52/55gsm improved newsprint and finish off with a pot of loose tea (M&S strength 5).
