🎉 Celebrating a very special milestone! 💙

Last weekend, our Registered Manager Lee had the pleasure of visiting one of our lovely clients to celebrate his upcoming 100th birthday!

Although his official birthday isn't until November, it was wonderful to be part of the celebrations early, alongside his daughter Eliza, and share in such a special occasion.

A 100th birthday is an incredible milestone, and we're delighted to help make these moments memorable for our clients and their families.

From all of us at Forget Me Not Home Care, here's an early happy 100th birthday! đź’š

It's Blog Day!

The latest article in our Understanding Care series is now live.

This month, we're looking at a topic that many people encounter at the very start of their care journey:

Care Assessments: What to Expect

For many individuals and families, the thought of a care assessment can feel a little daunting. What happens? What questions will be asked? Is there a right or wrong answer?

In our latest blog, we explain what a care assessment involves, why it is important, and how it helps ensure support is tailored to the individual.

If you or a loved one are beginning to explore care options, this article may help make the process feel a little less overwhelming.

Blog Day is here! đź’¬

This week, we're talking about something we all do every day: communicate.

But the way we communicate isn't the same for everyone.

Some people use sign language, some use communication aids, some rely on writing, gestures or technology, and some simply need a little more time to find the words they want.

With International Day of Sign Languages coming up on 23 September, we've been thinking about what it really means to make care more inclusive.

Because good communication isn't about expecting everyone to communicate in the same way. It's about taking the time to understand what works for each individual.

🛡️ WHAT DOES “SAFE CARE” ACTUALLY MEAN?

World Patient Safety Day is about making healthcare as safe as possible and reducing avoidable harm.

But safe care isn't just about procedures and policies.

It's also about being listened to, understanding your care and feeling able to ask questions.

Especially when someone has several appointments, medications or treatments to manage.

Do you feel comfortable asking questions about your own care?

🩺 Do you know your numbers?

It’s Know Your Numbers! Week, so this week’s blog is all about something we can easily overlook: our blood pressure.

High blood pressure often has no obvious symptoms, which means you can feel perfectly well and still have no idea that your blood pressure is raised.

So what do those two numbers actually mean? Why does blood pressure matter? And what does it have to do with care and supporting people to remain independent?

We’ve taken a closer look in this week’s blog.

A little look back at our Nutrition & Cognition training on 3rd September 🧠🥗

We spent the day looking at how we can encourage good nutrition and make mealtimes easier and more accessible for people living with impaired cognition.

Through different scenarios, we put ourselves in their shoes - trying to follow instructions in loud and busy environments, completing tasks while wearing gloves or blindfolds, and experiencing some of the challenges that can make everyday activities feel much harder.

It was a really valuable reminder that something which seems simple to us might not always feel simple to someone else. Understanding those barriers helps us think about how we can adapt our approach, offer the right support and promote independence 🤍

Lots of learning, plenty of laughs, and a brilliant team effort with Eliza, of course, making sure she was part of the action too!

Always learning. Always improving. Always putting the people we support at the heart of what we do ✨

❤️ WHY 5TH SEPTEMBER?

Today is the International Day of Charity.

The date was chosen to honour Mother Teresa, who died on 5 September 1997.

The day recognises the difference that charities, volunteers and ordinary acts of generosity can make to people's lives.

And charity isn't always about giving money.

Sometimes it's giving your time.
Sometimes it's lending a hand.
Sometimes it's simply being there.

What does kindness mean to you?

Blog Day is here! ✉️

Okay, we know we’ve already been talking about letters this week… but we couldn’t resist giving our latest blog a little shout-out too!

The Lost Art of Letter Writing: Why a Handwritten Letter Matters

There’s something quite special about a handwritten letter. The time taken to write it, the anticipation of waiting for it to arrive, and the memories that can live on long after it was written.

For some of the people we support, letters can be little pieces of their history. They can bring back memories of family, friendships, special occasions and people who may no longer be around.

Our latest blog explores why something as simple as putting pen to paper can still hold so much meaning, and why paying attention to the things that matter to someone is such an important part of good care.
