She built it!

Yesterday, our Founder, Scarlett Allen-Horton, had the absolute privilege of interviewing the incredible Alison Akinrinlola at the Smart Works Chapter Fundraising Lunch.

As an England Netball Athlete, Founder of Birmingham Panthers Netball and Netball Aid, Alison has built an extraordinary career in leadership, purpose and creating opportunities for others.

Yet what struck Scarlett most was not her titles or achievements, but Alison's honesty, humility and unwavering belief in creating opportunities for women and girls in sport.

When Alison didn't see the opportunities she believed women and girls deserved, she didn't wait for someone else to create them. She built them.

Listening to her journey, Scarlett found herself reflecting on how often success starts with a single opportunity, a moment of encouragement, or someone believing in us before we fully believe in ourselves.

It's a mindset we see reflected so clearly in the work and mission of Smart Works.

Not simply because Smart Works helps women secure employment, but because they help build confidence, unlock potential and create opportunities that can genuinely change the course of a life.

A heartfelt thank you to Alison for sharing her story and success so openly, and to the Smart Works team for the incredible impact they continue to make every day.

That's why we're proud to be sponsoring the Young Entrepreneurs Initiative, helping young people aged 11–17 take their first steps into business.

Our Founder, Scarlett Allen-Horton, will also be attending on the day to meet these aspiring entrepreneurs, hear their ideas and support their journey.

Together, through our steps and your incredible support, we raised £1,018!

A heartfelt thank you to everybody who donated, supported and encouraged us throughout the challenge.
