The conversation around hybrid work and returning to the office is heating up again. Over the last few weeks I’ve heard from a few businesses, both big and small that they are reviewing their hybrid working arrangements and requiring staff to increase their days working from the office. So, what’s the best way to move forward?

📈 Hybrid Work Pros:
• Flexibility boosts productivity and employee satisfaction.
• Broader talent pool—hire from anywhere!
• Reduced overhead costs for office space.

🏢 Return to Office Pros:
• Increased collaboration and team culture.

⭐️EMPLOYMENT LEGISLATION UPDATES ALL BUSINESS OWNERS NEED TO KNOW⭐️

As of this month, several key employment law changes have come into effect that may impact your business. Here's what you need to know to stay compliant:

☑️ National Minimum and Living Wage Increases (Effective 1 April 2025):
- Workers aged 21 and over: hourly rate increased from £11.44 to £12.21.
- Workers aged 18 to 20: hourly rate increased from £8.60 to £10.00.
- Workers aged 16 to 17 and apprentices: hourly rate increased from £6.40 to £7.55

☑️ Employers' National Insurance Contributions (NICs) Increase (Effective 6 April 2025):
- Contribution rate increased from 13.8% to 15%.
- Payment threshold lowered from £9,100 to £5,000

☑️ Employment Allowance Increase (Effective 6April 2025):
- Allowance increased from £5,000 to £10,500, enabling eligible small businesses to reduce their NICs liability.

☑️ Statutory Pay Rates Adjustment (Effective 6 April 2025):
- Statutory maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental leave, and parental bereavement pay increased from £184.30 to £187.18 per week.

☑️ Neonatal Care Leave and Pay (Effective 6 April 2025):
- Employees with newborns requiring hospital care within the first 28 days of life are entitled to up to 12 weeks of neonatal leave and pay.

☑️ Right to Work (RTW) Checks Extension:
- RTW checks now extend to businesses hiring gig economy and zero-hours workers.
