Sitting outside a café in London, just around the corner from the Grosvenor Hotel, reflecting on what tonight means.
Later I’ll be joining the team from Major Farming at the Farmers Weekly Awards, where they are finalists for Dairy Farmer of the Year.
There’s something quite special about that for me.
Back in 2013, my very first farming client won this same award. Thirteen years later, I’m back with another client who has really embraced what we believe at REAL Success about people, leadership and building a great team.
Of course, I’d love to see them win tonight 🤞
But awards aren’t really won on awards night.
They’re won in all the small things that happen every day. The difficult conversations. Giving people opportunities. Developing leaders. Maintaining standards. Listening to your team. Getting things wrong occasionally, learning from them and trying again.
We’ve had the privilege of working closely with Major Farming through plenty of those moments, which is why seeing them recognised tonight makes us incredibly proud.
Whatever happens when that envelope is opened, being shortlisted amongst some of the best dairy farming businesses in the country is a fantastic achievement.
Thirteen years on, it feels pretty special to be back.
